The ex CEGB Agecroft Power Station Robert Stephenson & Hawthorn built 0-4-0ST Works No. 7416 "Agecroft No1", has since relocated to the National Railway Museum at York in Yorkshire.

The construction work of New-build LMS Patriot 4-6-0 No. 5551 "The Unknown Warrior", has started to pick up as the frames were moved inside the works at Tyseley Locomotive Works. The move was made on the 17th of July 2024 after being outside under tarpaulin since they arrived from Princess Royal Class Locomotive Trust West shed at the Midland Railway - Butterley, in December 2023. This was needed as there was a wait for space inside at Tyseley, with volunteers working on preparatory work for the components that were delivered separately in March. The first package of work will be the reassembly of the horn guides, with the outside cylinders and wheelsets now at Riley & Son Engineering. The wheelsets are due back later in 2024 and will allow the frames to be re-wheeled once again.

The BR built ex LMS Ivatt Class 2MT 2-6-2T No. 41241, is heading to Wales for the very first time to visit the Pontypool & Blaenavon Railway as their second visiting locomotive for their Annual Steam Gala from the 13th to 15th of September 2024.

The overhaul on the Festiniog Railway’s George England & Co. built 0-4-0ST+T No. 4 "Palmerston", one of the world’s oldest operation steam locomotives has now been completed and is now operational again. "Palmerston" is currently bring tested and undergoing running in trials before its set to take part in the Vale of Rheidol Railway’s Summer Steam Festival on the 24th to 26th of August 2024.

The 1992 built replica Liverpool & Manchester Railway 2-2-0 "Planet", has since been put in static display at the Science & Industry Museum (formely known as the Museum of Science and Industry) and might not ever steam again as the museum will no longer be operating heritage trains at the Liverpool Road Station site as the museum has submitted plans to transform its outdoor public spaces, improving accessibility "while retaining and celebrating the globally significant industrial beauty and heritage of the site". Under the first phase of those plans, to be delivered by the summer of 2025 following the reopening of the renovated Power Hall, the museum aims to create accessible walking routes across the Upper Yard and 1830 built viaduct. While the current railway lines on the site will remain in situ, they will be resituated "in a cobbled landscape instead of stones, akin to when the railway workforce would have been able to cross the area", with a "static locomotive" position on the tracks outside the station for display. They has not been any train operations at the museum since 2018, and there are no current plans to overhaul "Planet" for now and the locomotive will remain on display in their Power Hall for now.

This locomotive is now located at the Maine Machine & Locomotive Works in Alna, ME and can be seen sitting on the siding when riding the WW&F Ry.

The ex Airservice Construction Corps, Andrew Barclay built 0-4-0WT No. 6 "Douglas", has left the Talyllyn Railway and has gone on loan to the Severn Valley Railway, where it has been put on display in the Engine House, at Highley, Worcestshire, where the locomotive will remain on display until November 2024.

The ex Kent Electric Power Co. Bagnall built 0-4-0ST (Works No. 2842) No. 2, is visiting and taking part in the Welland Steam Traction Engine Rally at Woodside Farm in Worcestershire, from the 26th to 28th of July 2024, where the locomotive will be operating on their Great Welland Railway on site during the rally.

Scrapping commenced on 1/8/2024. Parts from C58 19 were salvaged for the cosmetic restoration of C58 114. A single driving wheel is all that’s left of C58 19.

Following its visit to the Spa Valley Railway, ex GWR Large Prairie 2-6-2T No. 4144, is returning to the Mid Norfolk Railway to act as extra motive power for them alongside BR Standard 4MT 2-6-4T No. 80078, for the summer season there, before returning home to Didcot in the Autumn.

The ex Port Talbot Railway Hudswell Clarke built 0-6-0ST No. 813, is to have its boiler worked on to see if its 10 year boiler ticket can be re-newed and it is also having a brand new saddle tank built to replace the other one which is now beyond repair.

The ex Southern Railway Bulleid Battle of Britain Class Light Pacific No. 34072 "257 Squadron", will be going on loan to the Mid Hants Railway (Watercress Line) from late July 2024 and will stay at the railway until the New Year, and during its stay at the Mid Hants Railway No. 34072 will take part in their Autumn Steam Gala from the 4th to 6th of October 2024.

The sole surviving ex Caledonian Railway 439 Class 0-4-4T No. 55189 (419), is making a return visit to the Spa Valley Railway in Kent, to help celebrate fellow former Caledonian Railway 812 Class Standard 0-6-0 Goods No. 828’s 125th birthday, which will see the two sole surviving operational Caledonian Railway steam locomotives operating once again together in the South of England with their distinctive Caley barks for a rare opportunity to see them working together on two weekends from Friday the 30th & Saturday 31st of August and the 7th & 8th September 2024.

The former Caledonian Railway 812 Class Standard 0-6-0 Goods No. 828, will celebrate its 125th birthday this year with a special event to mark it at the Spa Valley Railway on the 31st of 31st of August 2024. No. 828 was built in 1899 by the Caledonian Railway Company at their St. Rollox engineering workshops in the Springburn district of Glasgow, Scotland. She is one of 20 memebers of her class which were built at St. Rollox between May and November 1899. No. 828 herself was delivered from the works at the end of August 1899, and is the sole surviver still running in preservation today.
