United States Army 0-6-0 No. 4039Posted by: Steve Hepler on Oct 3, 2024 @ 18:10:42
Posted: Jul 30, 2024 @ 15:07:23 by Matthew Gardner "Is not under restoration any longer. Was the victim of a lot of mismanagement due to too many contractors involved in the restoration, and many parts were lost. Including the original boiler, which needed to be replaced. It cannot even be made into a display piece at this time." In reply to the above quote... this is NOT true. While progress has been terribly slow, the restoration continues, and work on the new boiler is nearly complete. NO parts have been lost. Whoever wrote the above quote does not represent the Museum and has no first-hand info. Steve Hepler, Whippany Railway Museum

These two were built in the late 1840s-early 1850s by Seth Wilmarth and Co up in Massachusetts for service on the Cumberland Valley. The History channel did a segment on the two in the early 2000s, but I am not sure if it was ever released. I have obtained a DVD copy from the Long Beach Island (NJ) diving museum.
