DR (DRB) 2-10-0 No. 52.8001 (52.671)Posted by: on Apr 25, 2022 @ 14:04:35
This is another, possibly the last (at least extant) Class 52 that was actually ordered though A Borsig, Berlin but due to pertaining difficulties at the time, could not deliver and effectively sub-contracted the order to Schichau. It was delivered to the DRB (successor to the DRG) as No. 52 671, also with SBZ Military Administration 1945-1949 before joining the fledgling DR. It appears to have been the first of the class to be re-built with a more powerful boiler, either at Raw Babelsberg or Stendal and emerged as No. 52 8001, later becoming No. 52 8001-1. It retired at the end of 1991 and was purchased the following year by AE

DR (DRB) 2-10-0 No. 52 1662 (52.662)Posted by: Dale W Fickés on Apr 25, 2022 @ 14:04:24
This may have originally been ordered from Borsig, Berlin given the actual running number and delegated to Schichau due to the former’s inability to deliver! It was produced for the DRB (successor to the DRG) as No. 52 662 which came under SBZ Military Administration 1945-1949. It continued with the new DR from the latter year, eventually becoming No. 52 1662 until being withdrawn in 1991. It was purchased by B Falz for his Hermeskeil Museum and has a EDP of 52 1662-7.

Further information has come to light which gives this locomotive as Schichau (Elbing) No. 4177/1944 (note 3063 is NOT extant and was built prior to WW2!) which was actually delivered to the DRB (successor to the DRG) as No. 52 5865 but, the following year in 1945 it was presented to the Norwegian authorities, who gave it to the NSB, then as No. 5865. After work in Scandanavia it was purchased for Bressingham, where it remains.

CSD (DRB) 2-10-0 No. TE-5806 (52.5806)Posted by: Dale W Fickés on Apr 25, 2022 @ 12:04:05

DR (DRB) 2-10-0 No. 52.8186 (52.632)Posted by: Dale W Fickés on Apr 25, 2022 @ 11:04:26
The locomotive is neither Jung nor Schichau 4111. It is in fact Schichau (Elbing) 4110/1944 which was originally ordered from A Borsig of Berlin, to become their No. 15729, but later sub-contracted the work, along with several others, due to ‘local’ circumstances to Elbing It was delivered to the DRB (as successor to the DRG) as No. 52 632, retaining that identity with the SBZ Military Administration 1945-1949, then continuing with the emerging DR who re-built it with a more powerful boiler 1958-1962, and emerging as No. 52 8186, later 52 8186-3. It was preserved in 1992 at Gaildorf and, the following year went to DKB Sulzbach-Lauren. It went to the ÖGEG in 1996.

DR (DRB) 2-10-0 No. 52.8020 (52 627)Posted by: Dale W Fickés on Apr 25, 2022 @ 11:04:53
Further investigation, from another source, identifies the locomotive as another first ordered from Borsig, Berlin with the original build number of 15724. It could not be built/completed in that city and therefore delegated to Schichau (Elbing) to become their number 4105/1944. It was delivered in the closing year of WW2 to the DRB (as successor to DRG) as No. 52 627, later re-boilered 1958-1962 and then given No. 52 8020, later No. 52 8020-1. In 1992 it was purchased privately from the succeeding DB to be preserved at the emerging Tuttlingen Museum.

DR (DRB) 2-10-0 No. 52.8137-3 (52 5803)Posted by: Dale W Fickés on Apr 25, 2022 @ 10:04:19
This was one of the last Kreislok’s delivered direct to the DRB (successor to DRG) near the end of WW2, as No. 52 5803. It remained in that identity with the SBZ Military Administration 1945-1949, in the latter year being allocated to the emerging DR. That railway re-built the locomotive 1958-1962 with a more powerful boiler and then gave it the No. 52 8137, later No 52 8137-3. Before complete withdrawal in 1987 it served as a stationary boiler and was first preserved privately by an enthusiast from Lüneburg for the railway museum at Bw Salzwedel until 1995, and moved to Staßfurt the following year, and to whom it now belongs.
