Because of new ownership, the Fort Steele heritage town has not been able to find anyone to operate this locomotive, therefore it is stored but operational.

The ex Southern Railway Bulleid Battle of Britain Class Light Pacific No. 34081 "92 Squadron", has now been withdrawn from service and is now awaiting its next overhaul.

BR Standard 2MT 2-6-0 No. 78019, is visiting the Nene Valley Railway for the winter and Christmas season from mid-November 2025 through to January 2026. During which the locomotive will be used on their Christmas at the Railway event during the festive season from the 29th November to the 24th December 2025 and will be used for their Driving & Firing course for members of the public on the 2nd & 3rd of January 2026. No. 78019 will also be working their Winter Jolly Fisherman Fish & Chips Train on Saturday 3rd January, departing 7pm and will also be working their Winter Warmer Services on the 4th January. Then on the 11th of January 2026 No. 78019 will take part in a photo charter event at the Nene Valley where it will be renumbered as long lost class mate No. 78064 which was the very last BR Standard 2MT 2-6-0 built as the event marks a significant year for the class, with it being 70 years since No 78064 was built and 60 years since it was scrapped.

After its short visit back home to the Buckinghamshire Railway Centre and making its pubic debut in its Harry Potter, Hogwarts Express livery there, the ex GWR Modified Hall Class 4-6-0 No. 6989 "Wightwick Hall", has now returned on loan to the Bluebell Railway where it will be based inbetween filming use for the upcoming Harry Potter television series and will be hauling trains there in its new livery for the first time during the October half term from the 25th to 31st of October 2025.

This locomotive, along with the 2 other HRR 2-6-0 locomotives, was sent to be scrapped after a tsunami bankrupt the railroad in 1949. They were supposed to be scrapped in California, but the locomotives were thrown overboard somewhere between Hawaii and California. Their exact location is currently unknown.

This locomotive actually does still exist, is visible from google earth, along with the other one, the 0-8-0T+T.

In 1949 this locomotive was used as a riprap in the Skagway river to stop the river from washing out the line. this locomotive was buried at milepost 2.5 and was retrieved in 1990. currently no plans for even a cosmetic restoration seem to have been made.

Good to hear that the old girl will be owned by the Tanfield. They have worked so hard over the years to look after this classic Robert Stephenson & Co. product of Newcastle upon Tyne works. She is North East England through and through.

The ex Carlisle Plaster & Cement Co. Andrew Barclay built 0-4-0ST Works No. 1969 "J N Derbyshire", has relocated to the East Lancashire Railway at Bury in Lancashire, where it is now based and only returns to the Ribble Steam Railway during the summer months.

The ex Manchester Ship Canal Hudswell Clark built 0-6-0T (Works No. 680) No. 32 "Gothenburg", (aka Thomas the Tank Engine) has been repainted into its Manchester Ship Canal Grey livery in time for the East Lancashire Railway’s Autumn Steam Gala over the 17th to 19th of October 2025. No. 32 "Gothenburg" will be repainted back as Thomas the Tank Engine during the winter.

The former South Durham Steel & Iron Co. South Durham Steel & Iron Co. 1900 built 0-4-0ST "South Durham Malleable No. 5", has been donated to the Tanfield Railway by Beamish Open Air Museum and the locomotive is now relocating there where they plan to fully assess the locomotive and restore it.
