Good to hear that the old girl will be owned by the Tanfield. They have worked so hard over the years to look after this classic Robert Stephenson & Co. product of Newcastle upon Tyne works. She is North East England through and through.

The ex Beamish Colliery, Robert Stephenson & Co. built 0-6-0T (Works No. 2730) No. 3 "Twizell", has a bright future ahead of it as the locomotive has been donated to the Tanfield Railway by its now former owners Beamish Open Air Museum. Having been on long term loan to them No. 3 "Twizell", will now be part of the running fleet at the Tanfield Railway for good in the years ahead.

Twizell returned to steam in summer 2010 and now works regularly on the Tanfield Railway. It is a powerful engine on loan from Beamish Museum.

Twizel's cylinders are 17"x24". It weighs 52 tons. Boiler pressure is 180psi. The loco is currently under restoration and will be fully restored in a few months time. I am a volunteer at Tanfield and i have done a lot of work on this loco
