The ex War Department and NCB Robert Stephenson & Hawthorns built Austerity 0-6-0ST Works No. 7289 (WD No. 71480) "Fred", is to visit the Battlefield Line for the first time for their Winter Warmer Gala weekend being held in the New Year on the 11th and 12th January 2025. This will be the first time that "Fred" will be hauling trains again after 40 years then.

The ex Airservice Construction Corps, Andrew Barclay built 0-4-0WT No. 6 "Douglas", is now back home at the Talyllyn Railway at Tywyn, Gwynedd in North Wales, where it is about to undergo its overhaul which is expected to take two years to complete.

Built for Midland of Uruguay Railway (MUR) as part of their C class being No. 8 before being transferred to Los Ferrocarriles y Tranvías del Estado (FTE) in 1898 and then to the Central of Uruguay Railway (CUR) in 1899 where it became B class No. 4.

It has been annouced that ex Southern Railway Bulleid Battle of Britain Class Light Pacific No. 34081 "92 Squadron", will be leaving the Nene Valley Railway and relocating to its new home at the East Lancashire Railway at Bury in Lancashire. The move is to secure new opportunities for the owning group of the locomotive, the Battle of Britain Locomotive Society.

Stephens", is the next steam locomotive to be overhauled at the Kent & East Sussex Railway and will enter the workshop at Rolvendon when the overhaul of ex United States Army Transportaion Corps and Southern Railway USA Class 0-6-0T Dock shunter No. 30065 "Maunsell", is completed.

The overhaul on ex United States Army Transportaion Corps and Southern Railway USA Class 0-6-0T Dock shunter No. 30065 "Maunsell", is now in its last stages as its boiler successfully passed its steam test and it is hoped that the locomotive will enter service at the Kent & East Sussex Railway during 2025.

After finnishing with the Polar Express over Christmas and before returning home to the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway, ex GWR 2800 Class 2-8-0 No. 2807, will take part in the South Devon Railway’s Winter Steam Gala from the 3rd to 5th of January 2025.

The restoration of the ex LNER J94 Austerity 0-6-0ST No. 68078, one of only two genuine ex-LNER J94 0-6-0STs in preservation has now been completed at the Sellindge site in Kent, as it is now in the final stages and is to steam for the first time in preservation in 2025. It is hoped that No. 68078 will find a new home in the South East of the UK during 2025.

The world famous Fowler/Stanier rebuilt LMS Royal Scot Class 4-6-0 No. 46100 "Royal Scot", has hauled its final train on the mainline and is due to be withdrawn from service at the begining of 2025 of its next overhaul.

The former SNCF (French Railways) and ETAT Class 241A 4-8-2 Mountian No. 241A65, has returned to steam and hauled its first mainline passenger train following completion of a heavy overhaul. No. 241A65 is one of Europe’s most famous steam locomotives and is a top mainline performer in and around Switzerland. She was built in 1931 by Fives-Lille and was one of many Class 241A 4-8-2 locomotives built between 1926 to 1934 for SNCF. No. 241A65 had spent some time in Germany during the second world war and was based at Erfurt before returning to France in 1946. The Class 241A were mainley used on express trains in the east of France working between Paris to Stasbourg and Basel until the mid-1960s. No. 241A65 was withdrawn from service in 1965 but it was used as a stationary heating loco until 1968 in Chaumont, after which it was bought for preservation by a Swiss enthusiast and was moved to Switzerland as a museum pice for display. It was restored to full working order for mainline running in 1997 and is now approved for use on the Swiss mainline network. No. 241A65 is one of two survivors of the Class 241A in preservation as the other memeber to survive is prototype member which is on display in the French National Railway Museum Cite du Train - Patrimoine SNCF at Mulhouse, France. No. 241A65 herself is based at Full-Reuenthal near the Swiss town of Koblenz on the border with Germany.

The ex Stewarts & Lloyds Andrew Barclay built 0-6-0ST No. 2138 "Swordfish", has arrived at its new home at the Mid-Suffolk Light Railway at Wetheringsett in Suffolk, and will be hauling their Santa Special trains over the Christmas season there.

After being on loan to the the Welshpool & Llanfair Railway for five years in the UK, the Zillertalbahn Krauss (Linz) 1900 built U-Class 0-6-2T No. 2 "Zillertal", has arrived back home safely at the Zillertalbahn at Jenbach, Austria.
