JS Class 2-8-2 JS 8158, which was built at Datong Works in 1987 had work on China Rail round the Dashiqiao aera until 1992, and then had a stint at Tonghua until November 1999. JS 8158 today is preserved and is located on display the Da’an Locomotive Expo Park at Da’an Bei in Jilin, Northeast China.

The Foxcote Manor Society have set up an appeal to fund the manufacture and fitting of a brand new firebox for ex GWR Manor Class 4-6-0 No. 7822 "Foxcote Manor". Though the locomotive is currently at Tyseley Locomotive Works, the Foxcote Manor Society are negotiating moving the chassis to Williton works on the West Somerset Railway where a second volunteer team will undertake cosmetic work and a small number of mechanical jobs with the support of the WSR engineering team. While their other team of volunteers at Tyseley are removing the old firebox in parallel with the new firebox being constructed, which is already under way. As the society has received a new 3/4 flanged steel doorplate from the South Devon Railway and placed the order with the same firm for the flanging of the copper tubeplate and doorplate. The society is seeking help to get them over the line with this aim, to facilitate repairs that will secure the long term future of the locomotive. The famous ex GWR Castle Class 4-6-0 No. 4079 "Pendennis Castle", is to visit the Chinnor & Princes Risborough Railway for the very first time for their Steam Gala from the 31st of October to the 2nd of November 2025, and will be the first ex Great Western Railway Castle Class 4-6-0 to operate along the line in preservation.

JS Class 2-8-2 JS 8050, which was built at Datong Works in 1987, had work China Rail’s area round Jilin until 1989, it then went to Tonghua where it worked until 1992, when it moved to Shenyang where it worked on the Yebaishou Line until 1997. JS 8050 today is preserved and is located on display the Da’an Locomotive Expo Park at Da’an Bei in Jilin, Northeast China.

The ex Keighley Corporation Gas Dept. Hawthorn Leslie built 0-4-0ST (Works No. 2859) No. 2, is currently visiting Beamish Open Air Museum for their Festival of Transport Event until to the 1st of June 2025.

Having completed its testing and running-in trials at the Severn Valley Railway, the unique BR Standard 8P Class Pacific No. 71000 "Duke of Gloucester", has now moved to its base at LNWR Heritage at Crewe to begin testing on the mainline.

The ex Pen-y-Bryn Quarry De Winton 1877 built 0-4-0VBT No. 1 "Chaloner", is visiting the Severn Valley Railway for their Railway 200: Trains Through The Ages event on the 5th and 6th of July 2025, and will be operating on a temporary narrow gauge track set up at their Engine House at Highley, offering footplate rides during the event.

This is the history and insite of BR Standard 9F 2-10-0 No. 92212, which is one of six of the Swindon built 9F’s to survive in preservation out of Fifty-three 9F’s that were built at Swindon Works between 1954 to 1960 out of a total of 251, 9F’s built between Swindon and Crewe Works. No. 92212 was among the last batch of 9F’s built at Swindon in September 1959, and it went new to Banbury in the same year. It had a breif stint at Bath Green Park, where it worked over the legendry Somerset and Dorset Joint Line from June 1961 until September that year when it was transferred to Ebbw Junction and then to Tyseley from July 1962. Its last shed it worked from for British Railways in its last years of service was at Carnforth in Lancashire from November 1966. Where worked out of until it was withdrawn from service in January 1968 and was one of the last few BR Standard 9F’s to just make it into the final year of steam on British Rail, but quite to the very end sadly. No. 92212 would end up at Dai Woodham’s famous scrapyard at Barry in South Wales along with many other steam locomotives that went there to rust away. No. 92212 would remain at Barry until September 1979 after being there for eleven years. It moved to the Great Central Railway up at Loughborough in Leicestershire for restoration and steamed again in the Autumn of 1996. No. 92212 operated at the Great Central Railway and visited many other preserved railways around the UK until it was withdrawn from service for another overhaul, which by this time it had been sold to Jeremy Hosking in 2006. No. 92212 returned to steam again at its current base at the Mid Hants Railway (the Watercress Line) in 2011, where it operated along with visits to other preserved railways until it was withdrawn from service again for another overhaul its second in preservation. No. 92212 is currently still being overhauled in the workshops at Ropley, where it is to use the boiler from sister 9F No. 92245.

The LMS (ex Croydon Gas Works) Sentinel built 4wVBGT No. 7109 "Joyce", has been sold to new owners and is now leaving the Somerset & Dorset Railway Heritage Trust at Midsomer Norton and relocating to its new home at the Chinnor & Princes Risborough Railway at Chinnor in Oxfordshire.

With its repairs nearly completed, the ex Southern Railway S15 Class 4-6-0 No. 506, is being repainted into British Railways unlined black livery with its BR running number No. 30506 reapplied for when it returns to traffic at the Mid Hants Railway (the Watercress Line) soon.

The 1975 built working replica of "Locomotion No. 1", is currently located at the Weardale Railway at Wolsingham in Durham, where it has been undergoing loaded test runs with its new replica train of new Chaldron waggons and carriage "Experimant" in readiness for the mainline and the three days of demonstration runs between Shildon, Darlington and Stockton from the 26th to 28th of September 2025.

The locomotive that started it all 200 years, the original "Locomotion No. 1" of the Stockton & Darlington Railway, will be the centrepiece, on display with many other locomotives from around the UK at the Greatest Gathering at Litchurch Lane works in Derby as part of the Railway 200 celebrations from the 1st to 3rd of August 2025. To mark 200 years of opening of the Stockton and Darlington Railway and 200 years of the modern railway we all know and use today.

The former Midland Railway Compound 4-4-0 No. 1000, courtesy of National Railway Museum will be taking part on display with many other locomotives from around the UK at the Greatest Gathering at Litchurch Lane works in Derby as part of the Railway 200 celebrations from the 1st to 3rd of August 2025. To mark 200 years of opening of the Stockton and Darlington Railway and 200 years of the modern railway we all know and use today. This will be a homing for the locomotive as No. 1000 was built at Derby in 1902 and this will be the first time that it has return to the former Midland Railway works at Derby in many years.

Sadly due to unforseen delays in the out-of-frames hydraulic and steam tests on the overhauled boiler, the ex LNER Y7 0-4-0T No. 985, will now not be ready in time for its visit to the Stainmore Railway at Kirkby Stephen East for their Stockton and Darlington 200 Gala. However the good news is that No. 985 will visit the Stainmore Railway for their planned Coming home Gala for the sole surviving ex North Eastern Railway C Class (LNER J21) 0-6-0 No. 65033, when that returns to traffic.
