If a group of dedicated guys could be organized and the funds acquired, who would one contact in the Santa Fe, NM area to talk about a potential restoration? I realize that the city is listed as the current owner, but is/are there groups (like a model railroad club) who kind of oversee the display? What kind of shape is it in. Has there been much vadalism or theft of cab instruments? Do you think the local community/politics would be willing to let a group from out of state do the restoration at an out of state site, say Illinois, where Santa Fe had their headquarters?
