Great Western Railway 4-6-0 No. 6023 'King Edward II' Posted by: Russell Newman on Jan 31, 2018 @ 06:01:38
Some sad news has come that seeing 6023 "King Edward II" on the mainline have now been put on hold. Due to loading gauge problems on Network Rail and the time left on its boiler ticket and the costs for test runs the Great Western Society have decided that the locomotive will be made available for visits to preserved railways around the country for now. Till the problems for it to go mainline can be sorted out. It is hoped that 6023 will visit the Severn Valley Railway for there Spring Steam Gala in March and visit the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Steam Railway for its May gala all subject to agreement.

Nashville, Chattanooga & St. Louis Ry 0-4-0T No. 704Posted by: Vincent B. Berkan on Jan 29, 2018 @ 18:01:02
According to "Ghost Railroads of Tennessee" by Elmer G. Sulzer (pages 247 - 248) This locomotive, along with #701, where from a fleet of 5 engines numbered 700 - 704 acquired by the NC&StL in around 1916 to work on the 10.24 miles Orme Branch line, serving several coal mines and a quarry. The line ran from Orme Junction, Alabama and ended at Orme, Tennessee. For a time, this line had a mixed train service, that was the only passenger service on the line. This line was later abandoned in 1942. I have no idea how these 2 engines survived or what happened to the other engines.

Oh dear! Whilst the locomotive depicted in the centre of Station Boulevard, Kicevo, MACEDONIA (rather than Madagascar!) is an 0-8-0T bearing the (stenciled) number 99-04-025. It is, I understand, actually ex JŽ 600mm (NOT 760mm) No. 99-04-053 (Henschel & Sohn, Kassel 15079/1917) suppied to the Skopje - Ohrid railway German Army built to feldbahn standard during the First World War and closed in 1966. There is, or was, an actual No. 99-04-025 (Vulcan 3129 /1917) preserved in the country, initially at Lisice depot, Skopje and later at the site of the former Pioneer Railway but its location is currently unknown.

Hirsch of Berlin who supplied it, probably after 1923, to the iron and steel factory of Klöckner-Werke AG at Georgsmarienhütte, south of Osnabrück.
