The number 59 has not been completely scrapped, only the frame and cylinders have been scrapped, it should be added. The rest is with No.58, and I believe the owners of 58 want to acquire the boiler to complete the loco eventually.

The Polish Tkh 0-6-0T No. 4015 "Karel" is in service at the Avon Valley Railway as its status should say its operational having been back in traffic since 2016.

No. 7027 is being moved to the West Somerset Railway for completion of its restoration to mainline standards. The work will be carried out at there Williton Works which will take around six years. When completed No. 7027 will be part the West Somerset Railways fleet and be made available for mainline railtours and visits to other preserved railways.

Hudswell Clark built 0-6-0ST "Wissington" will be going on hire for 3 moths to the Beamish Museum in County Durham this summer once its hire contract with the Colne Valley Railway is completed.

The former Irlam Soap Works Peckett built 0-4-0ST No. 7 has moved to the Northampton & Lamport Railway to be there new resident steam locomotive there.

The WD Hunslet built Austerity 0-6-0ST No. 75008 "Swiftsure" is currently at the Dean Forest Railway where it has been since last summer. Its been having some work done on it there by Western Steam Engineering which has seen new boiler tubes fitted and work carried out on the regulator, steam brake and various fittings. Its also had a new smokebox door fitted as well. Its unknown if 75008 will return to the Nene Valley Railway or go on hire to another preserved railway for the 2018 season?

Former Courtaulds Ltd Peckett built 0-4-0ST No. 55 "Gibraltar" has now relocated to the Mangapps Railway Museum having sold to a new owner there.

As a thank you for the visit of 4277 to the Churnet Valley. S160 No. 5197 is visiting the Dartmouth Steam Railway in Devon for there 2018 season. The loco will enter traffic there this weekend but will still be available for visits to other railways around the UK still.

It has been confirmed that the National Railway Museum has signed a six-year contract with engineering firm Riley & Son (E) Ltd to continue operating and maintaining the most famous steam locomotive in the world No. 60103 Flying Scotsman for the next six years. "Flying Scotsman" will be under the custodianship of Ian Riley until 2024. The locomotive has a busy year out on the mainline with railtours across the UK and will be on display at the East Lancashire Railway at there Spring Steam Gala on the weekend of 10/11 March and the Easter weekend as well. It will return to the East Lancashire Railway for some runs there in July and August/September. Also the Legendry A3 will visit the Nene Valley Railway later in the year.

No. 60163 "Tornado" has added several other heritage railway visits this year. The locomotive has been booked in at the Great Central Railway (Nottingham) on February 10/11. As well as visiting the North Yorkshire Moors Railway on March 3-11, the East Lancashire Railway on March 29-April 2 and the Nene Valley Railway on May 5-7 it is also visiting the Midland Railway Centre for the very first time on the weekend of April 21/22 and then the A1 is visiting the Bluebell Railway on May 25-29. So quit a busy season on the heritage railway circuit for the A1 this year.

It has just been confirmed now that 6023 will also be visiting the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway for the first time ever for there Cotswold Festival of Steam Gala on the weekend of May 26th to the 28th 2018. All tho not going mainline for now the locomotive will be maintained to mainline standards still as hope is come the next overhaul it will speedily done quicker.

Having hauled its final trains at the Churnet Valley Railway over the weekend at there Winter Steam Gala. No. 4277 has now been withdrawn from service having come to the end of its boiler ticket. The locomotive will be brought back home to the Dartmouth Steam Railway to undergo its 10 year overhaul.

Sorry it should have said that 6634 has left the Severn Valley Railway and has been relocated to Peak Rail in Derbyshire. To join Pete Waterman s other two GWR locomotives 5205 Class 2-8-0T No. 5224 and Small Prairie 2-6-2T No. 5553 there for completion of its restoration from Barry Scrapyard condition.

Some more information on No. 1555 aka Ivor The Engine has come to light. It turns out the locomotive was moved to the Swindon & Cricklade Railway during the summer of last year and only ran for a few weeks in December before it was withdrawn from service.

Peckett built 0-4-0ST No. 1555 aka Ivor The Engine has left the Cholsy & Wallingford Railway and has relocated to the Swindon & Cricklade Railway in Wiltshire. It arrived there in December last year but only ran for a short time as it has now been withdrawn from service for its 10 year overhaul.

For the 2018 season out on the mainline and heritage railway circuit LMS Black 5 No. 45407 will be running in the guise as long lost class mate No. 45157 "The Glasgow Highlander". As 2018 marks 150 years since the regiment of the same name was formed. The Black 5 has been in this guise before from 2000 to 2003.

The former Pennrhyn Slate Quarries Kerr Stuart & Co built Tattoo Class 0-4-2ST "Stanhope" has been withdrawn from service for its 10 year overhaul. The loco has been well cared for and work on it is expected to be a swift start as it could be back sooner then later.

No. 60009 "Union of South Africa" will have a busy season this year as the A4 is booked to appear at the East Lancashire Railway for there Spring Steam Gala on the weekend of 2nd to 4th March 2018. As well as mainline duties from the 30th August to 3rd September by popular demand the A4 is to revisit the Nene Valley Railway for there Pacifics weekend with 34081 92 Squadron.
