According to "Ghost Railroads of Tennessee" by Elmer G. Sulzer (pages 247 - 248) This locomotive, along with #704, where from a fleet of 5 engines numbered 700 - 704 acquired by the NC&StL in around 1916 to work on the 10.24 miles Orme Branch line, serving several coal mines and a quarry. The line ran from Orme Junction, Alabama and ended at Orme, Tennessee. For a time, this line had a mixed train service, that was the only passenger service on the line. This line was later abandoned in 1942. I have no idea how these 2 engines survived or what happened to the other engines.

My great, great grandfather noble was killed in 1913 when he was driving this train. Because of heavy rain the track slid and the train tipped over. My grandfathers left ankle was trapped under the boiler and he burned to death. Any info on this train would be greatly appreciated.
