Tennessee Coal 0-4-0T No. NonePosted by: Matthew Gardner on Mar 28, 2019 @ 16:03:47
When I was at the Museum, I spoke with the curator of the place, and he stated that the engine was never repossessed. So, from what I can gather, I am guessing that the engine was ordered by the Tennessee Coal Company, but during the construction phase, the company realized they could not pay for it, and canceled the purchase, with the engines components already assembled and waiting on the floor. There was no one who wanted an engine to the same specs as this one, so there was no reason to complete this one.

E.J. Lavino & Co. 0-6-0T No. 3Posted by: Matthew Gardner on Mar 20, 2019 @ 17:03:02
This engine actually was originally ordered by the Poland Spring Water Company! The company had a little railroad to aid in shipping out their famous bottled water to customers far away. The railroad originally had an 1890s built 0-4-0 tender engine bought second hand from the very class one they connected to. In 1927, either the work became too demanding for that engine, or it started to wear out, and they ordered the engine shown here. This engine worked for Poland Spring until 1949. When sold to E.J. Lavino.

Maine Central RR 2-8-0 No. 519Posted by: Matthew Gardner on Mar 20, 2019 @ 17:03:59
This engine is in a terrible state of cosmetic repair. The jacketing at the bottom of the boiler is all rotted through, and the asbestos has exploded out. It is covering the inside framework of the engine, and the rest of the jacketing is not far behind. The tender and cab are all rotted too.

Rahway Valley RR 2-8-0 No. 15Posted by: Matthew Gardner on Mar 20, 2019 @ 17:03:32
This engine was overhauled for use in Vermont, but was not used as heavily as the other engines that were also operational, which caused some confusion as to how much time was on the flues when it came in for its federally mandated inspection. The first inspection it got its flues extended, and ran more without issue until the next mandated overhaul. They ran it so little, that they convinced the inspector to extend the flues yet again. The next time they fired it up was on a ceremony day running it on a triple header with 2 of the G5s. It was going fine until one of the flues burst, and scalded a veteran engineer who was running the engine. After that, it was retired, and made a display engine.

By question, if someone approached the company with an appropriate price, would these engines be for sale?
