As of 11/5/2020, the owner of the locomotive and the other railcars on the property has removed them to take them to another location. He has stated that the Heart of Dixie RR Museum and the cities of Opp and Opelika have all expressed interest in acquiring some of the cars but nothing is concrete yet. He also stated that the locomotive was part of a collection assembled by a Dan Powers in Montgomery, AL that used to be at the west end of the Union Station. After Mr. Powers suffered health problems, the current owner acquired the locomotive and associated cars. The property the locomotive and cars sat on was then sold to become the location of the new Embassy Hotel in downtown Montgomery, and he moved all of them to the location in Andalusia, AL. Mr. Powers apparently originally had two saddle tanks but sold one and removed the tank from the one that is pictured here. He then purchased the L&N slopeback tender to match it up to the engine.

This engine was at one time a steam Dummy. And, there were 2 engines at this location according to the R. Conrad book. All the equipment at this location belonged to the Cradle Of The Confederacy Railroad Museum. An entity that I guess never succeeded. The second engine was a straight industrial tank engine.

According to the book that David R. Conrad provided in the 1980s, there were 2 engines at this location. And, it looks like the second might be peeking out in the backround.

Status should be changed to derelict by the looks of things.

Anyone know if there are any attempts being made to preserve this locomotive?  It really looks terrible!
