Splint-Jellico Coal Company 0-4-0T No. 3Posted by: Matthew Gardner on Mar 14, 2019 @ 15:03:13
Saw this engine a couple months ago, on a vacation to South Carolina. It has a weird grate patched over the cylinder opening. I guess to prevent people from throwing trash into it. I sincerely hope that somehow, some way, some day, this engine, the engine next to it, and the engine in Marietta get to all see steam again. These three engines all had very short working lives, and above all others deserve to run again.

Wayne County Board of Roads 0-4-0T No. 7Posted by: Matthew Gardner on Mar 14, 2019 @ 14:03:54
Believe it or not, out of all the engines belonging to the Henry Ford Museum, this is the one I would want to see run again the most. Simply because of its short working life. Maybe I can acquire it someday.

I have studied the photos of both this engine and 3003, both engines are not in that poor of shape, it looks to be mainly the sheet metal and the cab floor that would have to be replaced, and the tank on 3003, however both appear to be in very salvageable condition.
