Delivered from Esslingen as 3392 (NOT 3393) and originally (SNFT) National Railways and Tramways Co. (English translation) No. 1, the locomotive was built for their Brescia-Iseo and Edola lines. Status Display.

The original number of this locomotive was FS 83686.

Please amend current details here. This locomotive was built by CM, Sorrono for the Rete Mediterranean (Mediterranean Railway) as their No 6801 GARIGLIANTE. The locomotive became FS No. 8291 (please note order of numerals) in 1906. It was previously stored at Roma Smistamento depot awaiting preservation but but resides on a private estate outside Torino.

This locomotive belongs to the Iron Monument Club in Plzen. In 2015 I recorded it as dumped but the 2018 photo clearly shows it in good condition either operational or displayed.

From a class of locomotive introduced by the Rete Mediterranean (Mediterranean Railway) in 1903 this locomotive first became FS No. 8335 before being renumbered in it’s current identity.

This locomotive was originally built as No. 254 ‘LUINO’ for the Nord Milano Railway but, upon electrification of their suburban services, it was sold to the Monza-Molteno-Oggiono Railway (hence the MMO) - part of the FS since 1954 - whence it was placed in store at Roma Smistamento prior to eventual preservation and display.

When built this was constructed as a 0-4-2VB powered luggage car by Maffei, but in 1913 was rebuilt minus luggage compartment and supporting axle, in it’s current guise as a 0-4-0BT (B = back) and served for many years as depot pilot at Torino Smistamento, where it was stored prior to eventual preservation.

This vehicle was built for the Milano-Pavia Tramway which extended due west from the former. It was only in 1935 that it was sold to the Milano-Magenta Tramway ceased operating towards the end of WW2.

When the M-G Losed in 1952, the tram was sold to the nearby Monday-Trezzo-Bergamo Tramway, itself closing in 1958, and given the name “TREZZO”.

The originating company was the Milano-Gallerate (I.e. no ‘b’) Tramway.

This locomotive was delivered from Breda as FS No. 69022, later becoming FS No. 690.022. With 32 other members of the class, it was re-built 1928-1933 with a larger boiler and became their No. 691.022.

This locomotive was originally built as a Plancher 4 cyl. compound bearing FS No. 6900, later becoming No. 68100 - then No. 680.100. After being rebuilt as a simple engine (after 1934) it was renumbered as superheated No. s685.600.

It is ‘possible’ that this locomotive, should it still exist, be actually the former superheated FS No. 64.106, later No. 640.106 (Breda 1188/1910) which was previously stored for future preservation at Roma Smistamento depot?

This ‘replica’ locomotive was first displayed in the then museum at Roma Termini before being moved to the Museum of Science & Technology in Milano, from whence it came to it’s current location in a suburb of Napoli.

This locomotive was built for “Rete Adriatica” (Adriatica Railway) as their No. 1900 in Class 180, one of the three private companies forming the FS in 1905. Thirteen from a total of 36 built of this type, managed to survive in service until after WW2. Many locomotives now preserved in Milano were first displayed in the original museum at Roma Termini.

The 30 in the number refers to the lifting capacity of the crane, RS 1087/30 had construction no C60 and RS 1091/30 had construction no C65. The boiler pressure was 150 psi, cylinders 8in diam, 14in stroke. Information from Tatlow, Railway Breakdown Cranes

Two engines supplied to RR to work Beira Docks. HC1523, RR 2, Winston Churchill and this one HC1627, RR1, Rhodesia. 3’6" gauge 0-6-0Ts; Both preserved. RR2 is at Mutare Museum.

Baldwin 61619, driver diameter is 42 inches, with 17x22 cylinders. Locomotive is not 36 inch gauge, but rather 42 inch. And yes, it was restored to operation in the mid-2010s.

The 2248 is expected to return to service in 2023 according to Grapevine. And it looks like they’re finally making progress (slowly) with the steam locomotive. New boiler and a couple of other new parts such as air tanks. One day soon we’ll see steam in Grapevine again.

The station that 2542 is displayed burned down in May 2021. 2542 is okay but the station is gone. It was a total loss.

The famous ex GWR Castle Class 4-6-0 No. 4079 "Pendennis Castle" will be soon start test runs and running trials behind closed doors this winter at Didcot in readyness for her big lauch into service from April 2022.
