There is a conflict between this locomotive (EFE No. 219) and F de Mieres No. 305 (in Spain) both bearing the same identity of builder and number???

Originally Pfalz Bahn “SCHAID 186”, it became DRG No. 88 7306 in 1925 and, from 1936 was a Werklok at Bw Ludwigshafen, sometime bearing the number 805.8001 until retirement in 1961.For twenty years from 1966 it was displayed at Gehörlusen-und-Schwerhörigenschule, Stegen bei Freiburg and, in 1997, went to it’s present location with the DGEG.

The locomotive was built for the Bayerische Staatsbahn as their No. 1854 and was absorbed into the DRG as No. 98 7658 in 1928, becoming a Werklok at Bw Würzburg five years later, during which time it exchanged it’s boiler with former BS No. 1017 (Krauss 1378/1883). It was purchased privately in 1966 by W Schmitz-Scholl-Tengelmann of Mulheim/Ruhr and besides being on public display in Wiesbaden for a decade from 1971, it has been at Bayerische Eisenstein since 1981.

Aparrently this is NOT the original, but a replica model built at the Technische Hochschule, Karlsruhe in 1957, although the original, named “KÖNIGEN MARIE” apparently was/is in the Werk Museum, near Nürnberg Hbf, since 1922 (with interuptions!

No mention appears to have been made of this locomotive’s history of work spanning nearly a century in Europe. It was originally Mori-Ario-Riva No. 2 “RIVA”, taken over by the German Heeresfeldbaln (HF) and conscripted for work in Poland during WWl. From 1918 it worked for Ind. Karpathoukraine, Galizien when, on the outbreak of WW2 it was once again made to work for the HF, on this occasion in Hungary becoming MÁV Siebenbürgen No. 395.104, moving in 1945 further east to Romania (CFR at Alba Julia-Slatna) with the same running number and in 1974 moved to the USA.

This locomotive was withdrawn 18.02.1966 and in 1967 displayed at Vietach Station moving to Bayerisch Eisenstein in the museum there in 1980.

Snr. E. Bertrand, Bilbao was merely the intermediary on behalf of Minas del Peñon. The locomotive went to the Mountain Railway Museum El Entrego, Gijon by 1997.

This locomotive began work for the Gotteszell-Viechtacher Railway as their “ANNA 2” and has been in preservation since 1994.

The locomotive became DRG No. 99 7833 in 1939 and throughout WW2 and was only renumbered 298.104 for the ÖstB and subsequent ÖBB from 1945. After withdrawal it went to the Payerbach-Hirschwang museum line, where it was named. I have no record of it ever being numbered 99 7817 unless this is a plate it currently ‘mistakenly’ bears?

This is 0-6-0Tram No. 10 “CAROLINE” built by Krauss (Linz or München) ? No. 2165 of 1889.

This locomotive was delivered to the Szombathely - Pinkafó Railway as their No. 3 which, in 1890, became MÁV Class Xll No. 893; later Xll 5251 and latterly No. 377.071, the number which it continued to carry after 1918 with the CSD. It was again renumbered to 310.406 and in 1932 went to the Tech. Waldbahn Industries, Ungvar, Hungary as “LU 71” until 1939 when it rejoined MÁV as No. 377.071 - later No. 377.002 and went for preservation in Miskolc, Hungary during 1977.

This locomotive was supplied by Krauss to LAG Oberdorf-Füssen as their No. 7. In 1909 it moved it moved to the local railway Fürth - Cadolzburger Lokalbahn as both their No. 7 and also named “FÜSSEN” and in 1928 it again moved, on this occasion, to the paper mill in Baienfurt working with the same name but being renumbered No. 1. In 1999 it went to the BEM in Nördlingen where it remains as “FÜSSEN 1”.

This locomotive was originally preserved for the DGEG at Viernheim in 1967 and, from 1989 in Bruchhausen-Vilsen. It moved to their depot at Bochum-Dahlhausen in 1997. The letters MEG (Mittlebadische Eisenbahngesellschaft) should precede ‘Zell-Todtnau’ and ‘ZT’ follows the locomotive number.

This locomotive was originally, and prior to WWI, the Manresa - Berga Railway No. 7 “BALSARENY” which only became FTEMB 27, later to be re-named “MANRESA GUARDIOLA” in 1951, preserved in 1973.

Further information regarding this tram suggests that it is actually a 0-6-0Tram (Cn2t), originally of 1459mm gauge and working as Wien No. 8.

Wiener Neustadt is generally used for post 1875 built locos prior to which Sigl is normally used. Source IAl 1.

This is indeed Krauss 1320 of 1883 and may not be numbered. It is at the Frövi Maskins Bruksbanemuseum, north Örebro, Sweden. The second locomotive here is th O & K 2808 of 1925 which is Gota 3.

BR Standard 2MT 2-6-0 No. 78022 has become the first standard gauge steam locomotive to run successfully on bio-coal as part of a trial for future clean fuel for steam locomotives. On the 14th of February 2022 the locomotive was fired using a batch of Homefire Ecoal. Hauling five carriages, as it would have done with traditional coal, the Standard 2MT hauled its trains up the steeply graded, five mile long, heritage line in West Yorkshire which was very successful.
