The locomotive was built for the Bayerische Staatsbahn as their No. 1854 and was absorbed into the DRG as No. 98 7658 in 1928, becoming a Werklok at Bw Würzburg five years later, during which time it exchanged it’s boiler with former BS No. 1017 (Krauss 1378/1883). It was purchased privately in 1966 by W Schmitz-Scholl-Tengelmann of Mulheim/Ruhr and besides being on public display in Wiesbaden for a decade from 1971, it has been at Bayerische Eisenstein since 1981.
