The locomotive became DRG No. 99 7833 in 1939 and throughout WW2 and was only renumbered 298.104 for the ÖstB and subsequent ÖBB from 1945. After withdrawal it went to the Payerbach-Hirschwang museum line, where it was named. I have no record of it ever being numbered 99 7817 unless this is a plate it currently ‘mistakenly’ bears?
