The ex LMS Jubilee Class 4-6-0 No. 45690 "Leander" has been given a six month extention to her boiler ticket until May 2024, which during that time the locomotive will operate only on preserved railways around the UK until the end of her current boiler ticket. There are reports saying that her next overhaul could be the last one in preservation under her current owners?? But the work planned will see No. 45690 have a brand new tender tank fitted along with the genral worked needed to be carried for another 10 year stint on the mainline and heritage railway circuit ahead.

The BR built ex GWR Manor Class 4-6-0 No. 7827 "Lydham Manor" is now operational again at the Dartmouth Steam Railway following completion of her overhaul. The locomotive has been turned out in British Railways Green livery for the first time in preservation. No. 7827 is currently undergoing testing and running-in trials before entering service during the 2024 season at the railway.

The ex Southern Railway rebuilt Bulleid Battle of Britain Class Light Pacific No. 34053 "Sir Keith Park" is currently at Tyseley Locomotive Works in Worcestshire for final work on its overhaul, where it is having the boiler from sister rebuilt Bulleid West Country Class Light Pacific No. 34010 "Sidmouth" being fitted, having sussefully passed its hydraulic test and awaits its steam test before the end of November 2023. Apon its return to traffic in 2024, for the year the locomotive is to be renamed "303 Squadron" in honour of the highest-scoring Squadron during the Battle of Britain from the summer of 2024 until September 2025, as part of the 84th and 85th anniversary of the aerial battle that thwarted the Nazi invasion plans. No. 34053 will return to the Spa Valley Railway soon in 2024.

The ex Southern Railway Schools Class 4-4-0 No. 926 "Repton" has been taken out of service for an intermediate overhaul, which will involve re-boring its three cylinder valve liners along with examination and overhaul of the motion, which will include whitemetalling of the crossheads and also the bottom row of small tubes in the boiler will be removed for examination.

The former Dinorwic Slate Quarries Bagnall built 0-4-0ST Works No. 1760 "Sybil" is back in steam for the first time in 40 years on the 8th of October 2023, following the completion of its long overhaul at the West Lancashire Light Railway. Now operational but with a few remianing bits to carry out, "Sybil" will enter traffic during the 2024 season.

BR Standard 2MT 2-6-0 No. 78019 is visiting the Kent & East Sussex Railway over the winter to be extra motive power for their Santa Specials over the Christmas season, and will remain there until early January 2024, in the New Year.

The former Renishaw Ironworks Hudswell Clarke built 0-6-0ST (Works No. 1366) No. 6, has returned to service again at the Tanfield Railway, following completion of its 10 year overhaul.

Delivered to the Syzran depot of the Kuibyshev Railway. 1962 – Handed over to Sharya Depot 1963 - moved to the Pechora depot 1966 - transferred to the Sosnogorsk depot 1987 – transferred to Leningrad to work with retro trains. Around 2000, due to the closure of the Babaevo depot, it was moved to the Lebyazhye plant, restoration planned.

Today (Friday, November 10th, 2023), the Virginia & Truckee Railroad announced via its Facebook page that upon the completion of its operational restoration, Santa Maria Valley Railroad 2-8-2 No. 100 will be renamed and renumbered to Virginia & Truckee Railroad No. 30.
