A grant has recently been obtained from The Association for Industrial Archaeology to carry out conservation work on this locomotive in the near future. Work will largely consist of a deep clean, treatment of rusted areas and painting with protective paint. Interpretation panels will be added.

Work is currently taking place (November 2023) to conserve what remains of this locomotive thanks to a grant from The Association for Industrial Archaeology. This will largely consist of extensive cleaning, rust treatment and coating with protective paint together with a replacement front buffer beam.

The locomotive was not scrapped, but in 2007 it was installed at station Magdagachi under wrong number L-3927. Built in Lugansk in 1954 with c/n 15504. Built for the Tomsk Railway. In 1964 it was transferred to the Belogorsk TC. Exact location: 53.44956408976249, 125.80534051134187

On the tender of the locomotive there is a sign with the inscription: "A steam locomotive of this series delivered the passenger train No. 12 Smolensk - Kozlov to the Astapovo station on October 31 (November 13, 1910)." Traveling with him was L. N. Tolstoy, who was heavy on the way fell ill. We spent the last days of his life here at the train station.”

Serial number: 1544 Delivered to Depot Mineralny Vody. 1933 to the Leninakan depot. In 1942 he was evacuated to the Kuibyshevskaya Railway. In 1945 to the Chisinau Railway. Moved to the Novokubansk sugar factory in 1960, later as a factory railway in Armavir. Retired in 1985 and transferred to the Lebyazhe Museum.

The overhaul on the famous New-build LNER (Peppercorn designed) A1 Class Pacific No. 60163 "Tornado" is now nearly completed as the boiler was placed back onto the frames of the locomotive, and she underwent a steam test which everyting was alright. With some pipe work to be finnished and reinstalling the footplate fittings and associated connections, No. 60163 will soon be moved to the RIDC test centre near Derby for testing of the new ETCS system for future mainline running on the famous East Coast Mainline and other routes on Network Rail in the coming years, as well as running in trials and mainline test runs. No. 60163 "Tornado" will be back on mainline operations and heritage railway visits from Spring 2024.

The site location where the North Eastern Locomotive Preservation Group are now based in the newly restored 1861 Shed in Darlington, where ex LNER J72 0-6-0T No. 69023 "Joem" is now located is part of the new Darlington Railway Heritage Quarter, and the new site where No. 69023 is located will be known as Hopetown, Darlington.
