The ex GWR ‘Small Prairie’ 2-6-2T No. 5526 will be visiting the Spa Valley Railway for their Mixed Traction Gala Weekend on the 25th and 26th of March 2023, as a replacment for an unavailable Class 25 Diesel D7535 which is owned by the Devon Diesel Group for the Gala.

01.1944 Delivered in early 1944 to DRB - Deutsche Reichsbahn as No. 52 2656 that joined the newly created DR - Deutsche Reichsbahn in the then GDR following the end of WW2. After two decades it was called near the end of 1966 into Raw Stendal for reconstruction with a combustion chamber boiler (SKL Magdeburg 34132/1967), mixing preheater type IfS/DR and axle bearing adjusting wedges, emerging as No. 52 8183 until 1970 when it was computerised as No. 52 8183-7 and then working on until the summer of 1987, when stored. In 11/1992 it went to the VSE - Association of Saxon Railway Friends e. V., Schwarzenberg (Ore Mountains), Germany.

Delivered in early 1944 to DRB - Deutsche Reichsbahn as No. 52 2652 that then joined DR - Deutsche Reichsbahn following WW2 in the same identity. It was called into Raw Stendal for reconstruction with a combustion chamber boiler (SKL Magdeburg 32312/1964), mixing preheater type IfS/DR and axle bearing adjusting wedges, emerging as No. 52 8120 until 1970 when it was computerised as No. 52 8120-9 and worked until the end of 1991 though continued on the books of the then merged DB//DR from 01/1992 as No. 052 120-3 when it joined the Bernd Falz Collection, Steam Locomotive Museum Hermeskeil, Hermeskeil as No. 52 8120, being partially dismantled in Falkenberg since 2017.

Delivered to DRB - Deutsche Reichsbahn as No. 52 2649 that joined the DR - Deutsche Reichsbahn after WW2 in the same identity. It was called into Raw Stendal in 1963 for reconstruction with a combustion chamber boiler (SKL Magdeburg 31440/1963), mixing preheater type IfS/DR and axle bearing adjusting wedges, emerging as No. 52 8089 that in 1970 with computerisation became No. 52 8089-6 and ran until 1988 when it was then called into Raw Meiningen for conversion into a non-drivable heating locomotive (NHL), as part of an L6/K7 investigation for work at Bw Wustermark in the same identity, being withdrawn at the end of 1991, though not officially until 1993 when it went, at the end of that year, to Bernd Falz Collection, Steam Locomotive Museum Falkenberg where it remains.

Delivered in 01/1944 to DRB - Deutsche Reichsbahn as No. 52 2648 that following WW2 joined the DR - Deutsche Reichsbahn in the same identity. In 1965 it was called into their Raw Stendal for reconstruction including a combustion chamber boiler (Raw Halberstadt 336/1965), mixing preheater type IfS/DR and axle bearing adjusting wedges. It left here bearing new No. 52 8147, until being computerised as No. 52 8147-2. It was parked in a central reserve in 1986 until withdrawn in 1991 then going to Stassfurt, before being plinthed in front of Bf Quedlinburg Hof In 06/2006 it was bought privately by Recruitment at AkO - Arbeitskreis Ostertalbahn e. V., Schwarzerden that later went on loan to HEH - Historische Eisenbahn Hunsrück e. V., Morbach as No 52 8147-2. Please note change of location.

Glenfield has since moved to the Statfold Barn Railway, where she has received a cosmetic restoration and placed on display outside the new reception building. I saw the locomotive today at Statfold, so please change location!

Delivered to the DRB - Deutsche Reichsbahn as No. 52 2644 at Bw Kassel from where it was commissioned into their Rbd Osten, then in what is now Poland, returning west after WW2. It was called for reconstruction in Raw Stendal in 1960, including a combustion chamber boiler (SKL Magdeburg 30228/1960), mixing preheater type IfS/DR and axle bearing adjusting wedges being renumbered afterwards as No. 52 8006 which was computerised in 1970 as No. 52 8006-6, working until 1991 though id did gain another newcidentity after 01/1992 when DB and DR merged following unification of Germany and in 06/1992 went to the Bernd Falz Collection, Dampflok-Museum Hermeskeil, Hermeskeil and where it remained stored in 2022.

Delivered to the DRB - Deutsche Reichsbahn as No. 52 2626 that, after WW2 joined the newly created DR - Deutsche Reichsbahn of the DDR in the same identity. In 1967 it was called into their Raw Stendal for reconstruction with a hcombustion chamber boiler (SKL Magdeburg 34137/1967), mixing preheater type IfS/DR and axle bearing adjusting wedges, emerging as No.52 8187 that when computerised in 1970 became No. 52 8187-8 and continued working until 09/1986, but not withdrawn until 97/1991 from Bw Angermünde, from where it went into the Bernd Falz Steam Collection, firth in Basdorf 1996-2001; then at Jüterbog-Alters 1996-2001; and lastly since 2001 in Falkenberg Elster.

Delivered in late 1943 to the DRB - Deutsche Reichsbahn as No. 52 2596 that in 1945 went to the MÁV - Magyar Államvasutak, Hungary in the same identity then, in 1949 to the CFR - Cailor Ferate Române, Romania, also in the same identity, later going to the MPS - Ministerstvo putej soobšcenija , Soviet Union, again initially with the same identity until being renumbered as T?-2596 in 08/1952, being computerised as No. 1042.193-1 in 05/1984. It was retired in early 1991, in 1992 going to BC - Belaruskaja Chihunka, Minsk, Belarus though its whereabouts are currently unknown. I have no record of the locomotive being owned by the CSD (possibly mistaken for CFR) to whom it was at one time briefly loaned

Delivered in late 1943 to DRB (NOT DRG) - Deutsche Reichsbahn as No. 52 2615 which joined the newly created DR - Deutsche Reichsbahn in the DDR during 1945, whose last home was Bw Berlin-Karlshorst, before in 1947 going to theMPS - Ministerstvo putej soobšcenija in the Soviet Union in the same identity until, in 08/1952 being renumbered into their stock as No. T?-2615, later in 05/1954 computerised as No. 1042.195-6. in 1992 it was with BC - Belaruskaja Chyhunka, Minsk, Belarus in the last identity for the Belarusian Railway Company and, in 1993 was stored inLuninez Its current whereabouts are unknown.

__.10.1943 Delivered in late 1943 to the DRB - Deutsche Reichsbahn as No. 52 2551 which, at the end of WW2 succeeded into the DR - Deutsche Reichsbahn in the same identity before being called for reconstruction into Raw Stendal with combustion chamber boiler (SKL Magdeburg 31072/1962 and mixing preheater type IfS/DR, released from here as No. 52 8053. It was computerised in 1970 as 52 8053-2, running until 1990. and withdrawn the following year. It was stored until 1995 and then went to the VSM - Veluwsche Stoomtrein Maatschappij, Beekbergen, Netherlands as No. 52 8053.

Delivered to the DRB - Deutsche Reichsbahn as No. 52 2467 that at the end of WW2 found itself in Soviet territory with the new DR - Deutsche Reichsbahn in the same identity. In 1962 it was called into their workshop at Raw Stendal for reconstruction with combustion chamber boiler (SKL Magdeburg 31084/1962), mixing preheater type IfS/DR and axle bearing adjusting wedges, emerging from here as No. 52 8062, that in 1970 was computerised as No. 52 8062-3. It worked until early 1988 but survived into the DR merger with the DB, consequently being then numbered in early 1992 as 052 062-7 through to that October followed by installation as a memorial, Leipziger Straße, Treuenbriezen as 52 8062-3, though it was stored by 1999.

Delivery to DRB (NOT DRG which it succeeded) Deutsche Reichsbahn as No. 52 2455 that was, in 07/1945 directed by the OBL-USZ - General operations management of the US zone, Frankfurt (Main) - [American Occupied Zone Railway Administration] but in 1945 joined the Soviet sector based DR - Deutsche Reichsbahn in the newly created East Germany. In 1963 it was called into Raw Stendal for reconstruction with a combustion chamber boiler (SKL Magdeburg 31437/1963) and other modifications, emerging as No. 52 8087. It was computerised in 1970 as No. 52 8087-0, then renumbered again following the unification merger with DB in 1991, becoming from 01/1992 No. 052 087-4 and running until the end of 1992, but not withdrawn until 1995 when it was purchased privately by Lothar Kaminski as No. 52 8087-0. In 1996 it was on loan to the SDN - Schwaben-Dampf e. V., at Bf Neuoffingen, Offingen as No. 52 8087 bearing the NVR number: 90 80 0051 087-9 D-SDN]; then in.2012 privately to Battenberg, Germany as No. 52 8087-0, followed in 05/2013 to 10/2018 in storage at WESO-Aurorahütte GmbH, Gladenbach, Germany in a private vehicle collection near Battenberg in 2018.

Delivery to DRB - Deutsche Reichsbahn as No 52 2453 that, follingwing WW2 it joined the newly created DR - Deutsche Reichsbahn in the same identity and in 1955 was depoloyed on loan by PKP - Polskie koleje Panstwowe,, Poland. It was called for reconstruction by Raw Stendal in 1966 with combustion chamber boiler (SKL Magdeburg 34123/1966), mixing preheater type IfS/DR and axle bearing adjusting wedges] emerging as No. 52 8174, that in 1970 was computerised as No. 52 8174-6 and worked until 1990 when it was called, on this occasion, to Raw Meiningen for conversion into a non-drivable heating locomotive (NHL), as part of an L6/K7 investigation at Bw Falkenberg, being fully withdrawn during 1991. In 1993 it went privately to the FET - Friends of the Railway Torgau e. V., Torgau but in 03/2007 went on loan to the Bernd Falz Collection, Steam Locomotive Museum Falkenberg (Elster), stored together with vehicles from the Falz collection in the Falkenberg depot.

The overhaul to former Staveley Coal & Iron Co. Bagnall built 0-6-0ST Works No. 2670 "Lamport No. 3" is progressing to its final stages at the East Anglian Railway Museum as its brand new inner firebox has arrived for fitment and repairs to the bunker, cab and tyres are progresseing and new brake shoes have already fitted and the rolling chassis is complete. The axleboxes, connecting rods, coupling rods, and valve gear were overhauled at Chappel, entirely by volunteers and some work to the lubrication system for the axleboxes was improved, plus mechanical oil pumps were overhauled. The new firebox will be sent to the North Norfolk Railway to be reunited with the boiler which is under overhaul by North Norfolk Engineering at Weybourne. It is hoped that "Lamport No. 3" will be in steam again by 2025.

The unique ex NCB Whittle Colliery Robert Stephenson & Hawthorn built 0-6-0T (Works No. 7609) No. 31 "Meteor" is in storage at the East Somerset Railway as they has not been much work carried out on the locomotive and it is still up for sale.

The ex GWR 9400 Class 0-6-0PT No. 9466 will be visiting the Epping Ongar Railway as one of two visiting locomotives for their Steam Gala weekend from the 23rd to the 25th of June 2023.

Delivered in 07/1943 to DRB - Deutsche Reichsbahn as No. 52 2436, in 1945 being within the Soviet sector of Germany, it first went to the ÖStB - Austrian State Railway, prior to it being split from the DRB then, in 1947 to the ÖBB - Austrian Federal Railways in tge same identity. In 1977 it was withdrawn from service and entered the Srrasshof collection before, in 1978 going as a memorial in front of Hotel am Biwasee, Kyoto Park, Kobe, Japan along with 9 Orient Express cars. However, this monument was dismantled at the end of 2009 and possibly all vehicles were scrapped ?

Delivered and accepted in 07/1943 by DRB - Deutsche Reichsbahn as No. 52 2387 that after WW2 found itself in the Soviet sector of Germany and operating for the newly created DR - Deutsche Reichsbahnin the same identity which ran until the end of 1962 before being called into Aw Stendal for reconstruction complete with (SKL Magdeburg 31084/1962) boiler and released in 01/1963 as No.52 8072 before being computerised in 1970 as No. 52 8072-2, the running until being withdrawn in 1988. Having passed into the hands of the merged DB, in 1994 it went privately to Bernd Falz , initially at Basdorf and, in 2001 stored at Falkenberg (Elster).

Delivered to DRB - Deutsche Reichsbahn as No. 52 2377, it then had a brief period after WW2 with the newly created DR at Angermünde before, in 1947, being relocated by the MPS - Ministerstvo putej soobšcenija, firstly in the same identity but fro 1952 as RŽD No. T?-2377 who then sent it in 1966 to the JŽ - Jugoslovenske Železnice, Belgrade, Yugoslavia (now from 1991 Slovenia) as No 33-339, it working until 1973 and was stored Jesenice rior to being moved, in 1991, to ŽMSŽ - Železniški Muzej Slovenskih Železnic, Ljubljana where it now remains.

This locomotive joined the DRB - Deutsche Reichsbahn as No. 52 2295 in 05/1943 and was accepted at Rbw Göttingen prior to being moved east to Posen (now Poznan, Poland. In 1963 it was called by the DR into Raw Stendal for reconstruction with a new boiler, (SKL Magdeburg 31433/1963), emerging from here in 07/1963 as No. 52 8086, later in 1970 computerised as No. 52 8086-2 and ran until early 1987 before being withdrawn from traffic later in the year. Having joined the stock of the merged DB, it was sold privately in 12/1993 and remains as decribed elsewhere.

The locomotive was originally delivered to Hüttenwerk Hoerde AG, Werk Phönix, Dortmund as their No. 20 that, in 1967 was plinthed in a playground within Dortmund. In 1986 it too went to the MME - Märkische Museums-Eisenbahn, Hüinghausen as No. 20 PHÖNIX, and where it was in 2002.

Originally supplied to/or through Kark Plinke, Hannover with no recorded identity? It later went to Klöckner Bergbau AG, Hagen-Haspe as their No. 1 where it was stored in 1972. In 01/1973 it was placed in a school play area at Gevelsberg-Govelsang until, in 1984 it went to the MME - Märkische Museums-Eisenbahn, Hüinghausen as FRIEDRICH 1, being stored here from 2002. In 2012 it went to Wittener EF, Witten anf after repairs etc. was placed in Bf Witten.
