As part of its overhaul, the ex London & South Western Railway Class B4 0-4-0T No. 96 "Normandy", is having its cab rebuilt to an enclosed cab with full weather protection which it had in later life and will improved footplate crew protection in the usual British weather.

The convertion to oil fired on ex United States Army Transportation Corps S160 2-8-0 No. 2253 "OMAHA", has now been completed and the locomotive is now fully oil fired and ready for testing at the North Yorkshire Moors Railway. In another surpise move it has been annouced that No. 2253 will go mainline this year as its owners Steam Powered Services Ltd are fitting it with electrical and other equipment for mainline running on Network Rail, which this will be the first time since 1944 that No. 2253 has operated on the mainlines of the UK since it left for Europe during the D-Day Landings during the Second World War.

The overhaul on ex LNER K1 Class 2-6-0 No. 62005, is expected to be completed by the spring of 2026. The overhaul has been done to mainline standards and their are hopes No. 62005 could be returning to the West Highland Line in Scotland to work the Jacobite Steam Train between Fort William and Mallaig again, but only if West Coast Railways fleet of Mk1 Coaches are fitted with central doors locks for the 2026 onwords?? If not No. 62005 will return home to the North Yorkshire Moors Railway for work there and will go on visits to other preserved railways around the UK and will also be made available to other mainline steam operators too.

The ex Port Talbot Railway Hudswell Clarke built 0-6-0ST No. 813, has been fully painted into full GWR Green livery after its stint in as National Coal Board No. 11, and will be running during the Severn Valley Railway’s Spring Steam Gala from the 16th to 19th of April 2026, and during the summer season No. 813 will work summer Saturday services with a short rake of GWR Coaches.

It has been annouced that when completed, the new-build GWR 3800 ‘County’ Class 4-4-0 No. 3840 "County of Montgomery", will be based at Didcot Railway Centre, where it will be part of the Great Western Society’s fleet when completed.

The former Katwa Indian Railways, Bagnall built 2-6-2T No. AK16, has now been donated to the Statfold Barn Railway at Tamworth in Staffordshire, where it is now located for restoration.

The overhaul on ex Slough Trading Co. Hudswell Clarke built 0-6-0ST Works No. 1544 "Slough Estates No 3", has now been completed as the locomotive has been steamed for the first time since 2021, and is currently undergoing more steam tests before test runs at the Middleton Railway.

The former Ferrocarril General Roca, Vulcan Foundry built Class 12E Pacific No. 3925, has become the first preserved steam locomotive to operate on the mainlines of Argentina without a Diesel locomotive to add it. As it was let out on its own for the very first time since the end of mainline steam in Argentina for a filming job for Netflix at Plaza Constitucion Station.

I got it wrong! It was #6166 after all. Conflicting sources corrected by reference to the VF order list: The 16 locos of the 341 Class were #6166-6181/1954.
