The Northampton & Lamport Railway has started an appeal to buy ex Stewarts & Lloyds, Corby, Hawthorn Leslie built 0-6-0ST (Works No. 3837) No. 16, from its current owner and take it into their ownership. The locomotive will a fitting addition to them, having spent all its working life in Northamptonshire. The railway needs to raise £9,000 to buy the locomotive, and details of the appeal can be found on their website and social media pages.

After being on loan to the West Lancashire Light Railway for many years, the former Khatauli Sugar Mill (Karachi Port Trust), Fowler built 0-6-0WT (Works No. 15991) No. 3 "Cheetal", has now left the railway and has returned home to the Leeds City Musuem, Armley Mill. The locomotive will be in temporary storage, off site, while a permanent exhibit space is prepared.

The boiler of the ex LMS BR Built Ivatt 2MT 2-6-0 No. 46447, has successfully passed its out of frames steam test and the boiler will soon be returned to the main frames of the locomotive for final completion of its overhaul.

The overhaul and rebuild on ex LNER B1 Class 4-6-0 No. 61264, has taken the next step forword as the tender is being prepaird for the old tank to be lifted of the chassis. Once removed the old tender tank will be sent to Hill & Webster in Ashbourne, to act as a partial template for the new tender tank to be built.

In a change of plans, the ex LNER A4 Pacific No. 4464 "Bittern", will remain at LNWR Heritage at Crewe for its overhaul to continue to carry on there to be completed. It had been originally planned for the locomotive to be overhauled by the Sir Nigel Gresley Steam Locomotive Trust owners of sister A4 No. 60007 "Sir Nigel Gresley" at their Sir Nigel Gresley Engineering Ltd. engineering site at Northallerton in Yorkshire. However, following a joint review of both the Sir Nigel Gresley Steam Locomotive Trust and Locomotives Services Ltd it has been decided to keep the overhaul of No. 4464 at Crewe.

The famous new-build (LNER designed) A1 Class Pacific 4-6-2 No. 60163 "Tornado", is visiting the Nene Valley Railway from the 3rd to 14th of July 2026 for their Best of British event season then along with the British Rail Class 55 Deltic Diesel 55009 "Alycidon" from the Deltic Preservation Society. During its visit "Tornado" will work their Fish and Chips Trains and will be used on driver experience courses and will part of their East Coast Legends Event on the 11th and 12th of July 2026.

As of 2025, locomotive 487 is currently operational! It took place in the 100th anniversary of the K 36 class locomotive! Locomotives 484 and 488 were also present in the celebration. Please change status to operational.

This is what I have: Delivered new to Australia in 1895; Worked at Proserpine Mill, QL; ... Withdrawn; ... Preserved in 1974 at a private site at Strathewen, Vic.; Based there from 1975-2006, owned by Graeme Harding; Possibly damaged in a bush fire in 2009; Moved with him to Romsey, Victoria, after 2009; No news since 2009; This loco was searched for in 2025 but not found;

The former Swedish State Railways B Class 4-6-0 SJ No. 1313, has now left the Lincolnshire Wolds Railway, having been sold to a new owner and has relocated to its new home at the East Lancashire Railway at Bury in Lancashire, what plans are for the locomotive there is currently unknown?

This locomotive has unfortunately been victim to the cutter’s torch this late in the game. It seems that preparations were being made as early as January, as evidence of parts harvesting (air compressor, anti-vacuum valves on the cylinders, and parts of the valve gear) surfaced online. As of March 9th, D52 1 is little more than wheels on a frame

The sole surviving ex GWR Dukedog 4-4-0 No. 9017 "Earl of Berkeley", has now arrived at the Severn Valley Railway and has now been placed on display in their Engine House, at Highley, Worcestshire, on the Severn Valley line where it will be on display for two years until 2028.

The ex GWR Manor Class 4-6-0 No. No. 7819 "Hinton Manor", has arrived at the Vale of Rheidol Railway at Aberystwyth, Ceredigion in Wales for its two year loan to them, where it will be on display in their museum in the former Great Western Railway locomotive shed at Aberystwyth until the spring of 2028.

The ex Sir Robert McAlpine Ltd, Hudswell Clark built 0-6-0ST (Works No. 1026) No. 31, has succseefully passed its steam test and the locomotive is now fully operational again. No. 31 will begin testing and running-in trials at Didcot Railway Centre before returning home to Fawley Hill at Henley-on-Thames in Oxfordshire, (the home of the late Sir William McAlpine).
