Great Western Railway 4-6-0 No. 7819 'Hinton Manor'Posted by: Russell Newman on Feb 3, 2026 @ 17:02:40
The ex GWR Manor Class 4-6-0 No. No. 7819 "Hinton Manor", is relocating to the Vale of Rheidol Railway at Aberystwyth, Ceredigion in Wales, for a two year loan on display in their museum in the former Great Western Railway locomotive shed at Aberystwyth until the spring of 2028, following a deal with the Severn Valley Railway. For No. 7819 this is a homecoming as the GWR Manor class had worked many of the prestigious Cambrian Coast Express services to and from Aberystwyth during the 1960s, making "Hinton Manor" a regular visitor to Aberystwyth in both Great Western and BR days. The locomotive last visited Aberystwyth on a mainline steam special in 1991, so its return more than three decades later is particularly significant.”
