The overhaul on ex Maerdy Colliery Peckett built OQ Class 0-6-0ST Works No. 2150 "Mardy Monster" the most powerful industrial steam locomotive, has now been completed and the locomotive is operational as it underwent a test steaming which saw movements around Boden Engineering depot. "Mardy Monster" was even tested by shunting a Class 56 Diesel locomotive as well to test its power and has even gone back to its original name "Mardy No. 1". "Mardy No. 1" will go back into the workshops of Boden Engineering for final painting before going out on hire on the heritage railway circuit soon.

The ex British Sugar Corporation Peckett built 0-6-0ST Works No. 2000, has now left the Helston Railway and has relocated to Locomotive Maintenance Services at Loughborough in Leicestershire. The locomotive will not be returning to the Helston Railway as its loan to them has now finnished and the loco will remain at Loughborough for some work to be carried out before going on hire to another preserved railway.

With its restoration now completed, the ex NCB, Woolley Colliery Hunslet built 0-6-0ST Works No. 1589 "Newstead", has now left the Spa Valley Railway and has relocated to its new home at the North Norfolk Railway at Sheringham in Norfolk, East Anglia, where it will start undergoing steam testing and running trials before entering service over the Easter Weekend.

The Gowrie Locomotive Trust has launched an appeal to raise the £100,000 estimated for the construction of the boiler for the new-build replica North Wales Narrow Gauge Railways Hunslet 0-6-4T "Gowrie". Details for the appeal can be found on the Gowrie Locomotive Trust’s website and social media pages. In the meantime construction on the locomotive is progressing well as the mainframes are completed and will soon be on its wheels and the coal bunker, side tanks have been built and fitted to the locomotive and the trailing bogie is very close to completion.

The North Yorkshire Moors Railway has launched an appeal to help raise £200,000 to help complete the overhaul of BR Standard 4MT 4-6-0 No. 75029 "The Green Knight", as the locomotive is in need of some boiler work along with needing a new firebox. The North Yorkshire Moors Railway hopes to have No. 75029 back in service by 2028, so it can be hauling trains again on both the NYMR and Network Rail’s Esk Valley Line to Whitby. The following is loan visit to the Mid Hants Railway (Watercress Line), the ex Southern Railway Bulleid Battle of Britain Class Light Pacific No. 34072 "257 Squadron", will not be returning to Spa Valley Railway but will be returning to its main home at the Swanage Railway in Dorset to be one of their main steam locomotives there again.

It was recently bought by Big South Fork Scenic Railway in Stearns, Kentucky and is currently being restored in Ravenna, Kentucky.

2425 has been acquired by the Big South Fork Scenic Railroad of Stearns, KY. It has recently been relocated to Ravenna, KY for restoration.

No. 4464 "Bittern", has arrived at LNWR Heritage at Crewe in Cheshire, where her boiler will be lifted for it to be worked on in the boiler shops there before the locomotive moves to the Sir Nigel Gresley Steam Locomotive Trust’s Sir Nigel Gresley Engineering Ltd. engineering site at Northallerton in Yorkshire, for overhaul.

This locomotive was at SESC Grussai resort metre gauge network in São João da Barra, Rio de Janeiro State in 2008 in working order. I have pictures of it in the shed and the worksplate. Sadly this complex closed in 2020 and the future of the railway and rolling stock is unknown to me.

The tender was seen on a low loader parked in a layby on the A19 northbound on 27th February 2025. Presumably heading towards Northallerton.

The ex Nidd Valley Light Railway Hudswell Clarke built 0-6-0ST Works No. 1208 "Mitchell"/"Illingworth ("Nightingale"/"Seacole"), is going on loan to the Pontypool & Blaenavon Railway (Blaenavon’s Heritage Railway) for their 2025 running season from late March 2025 and will remain a resident at the railway until their Annual Steam Gala in September 2025.

The ex London & North Western Railway 0-6-2T "Coal Tank" No. 1054, will be taking part on display with many other locomotives from around the UK at the Greatest Gathering at Litchurch Lane works in Derby as part of the Railway 200 celebrations from the 1st to 3rd of August 2025. To mark 200 years of opening of the Stockton and Darlington Railway and 200 years of the modern railway we all know and use today.

The ex LNER A4 Pacific No. 4464 "Bittern", is now relocating to the Sir Nigel Gresley Steam Locomotive Trust’s Sir Nigel Gresley Engineering Ltd. engineering site located at Northallerton in Yorkshire, where the overhaul back to mainline standards will take place at. "Bittern" will be traveling via LNWR Heritage at Crewe where the boiler will be lifted and worked on there while the main overhaul on the locomotive is carried out in Northallerton by members of the the Sir Nigel Gresley Steam Locomotive Trust for Locomotive Services Ltd.

The ex Southern Railway rebuilt Bulleid Merchant Navy Class Pacific No. 35005 "Canadian Pacific", is now operational, having undergone a successful steam test its overhaul and rebuild is now completed and the locomotive will now start undergoing test runs and running-in trials before being launched into service as the flagship steam locomotive at the Mid-Hants Railway (Watercress Line).

With ex NCB, Woolley Colliery Hunslet built 0-6-0ST Works No. 1589 "Newstead", now in the final stages of restoration, its been announced that the locomotive will be leaving the Spa Valley Railway due to their current needs and with other locomotives on short, medium and long-term hires to them along with the return of ex LMS Jinty 0-6-0T No. 47493, nearing completion of its overhaul there. "Newstead" will be relocating to the North Norfolk Railway at Sheringham in Norfolk, East Anglia, which will be its new home and the locomotive is expected to make its debut in service there during their four day Easter Bank Holiday weekend.

With No. 46100 "Royal Scot" now taking her place on display in the One:One Collection (Locomotive Storage Ltd.), the ex LNER A4 Pacific No. 4464 "Bittern", is now leaving and being relocated back to Locomotive Services Ltd’s base at LNWR Heritage or Crewe Diesel Depot as its more known at Crewe in Cheshire, where her overhaul will start.
