The Gowrie Locomotive Trust has launched an appeal to raise the £100,000 estimated for the construction of the boiler for the new-build replica North Wales Narrow Gauge Railways Hunslet 0-6-4T "Gowrie". Details for the appeal can be found on the Gowrie Locomotive Trust’s website and social media pages. In the meantime construction on the locomotive is progressing well as the mainframes are completed and will soon be on its wheels and the coal bunker, side tanks have been built and fitted to the locomotive and the trailing bogie is very close to completion.

The original "Gowrie" was built in 1908 for North Wales Narrow Gauge Railways and only worked for that concern until 1918 when it was sold to the Government. After this date there are various tales of the locos life seemingly involving construction of an aerodrome at Marske in the North Riding of Yorkshire and then being advertised for sale according to various sources. By the end of the 1920s the trail stops and it seems likely that the loco was scrapped on Teesside.
