It also hauled the Water Orton to Glasgow class C freight which it worked as far as Carlisle via Sheffield and Skipton and of coures the Settle and Carlisle line. Then in December 1957 it moved to Wellingborough depot where worked on the Toton to Brent coal trains as well as the weekday services to Rotherwood near Sheffield. From February 1964 it them moved to Leicester Midland shed on the Midland mainline and received an overhaul at Eastleigh Works in September 1964. Its last shed on BR was at Birkenhead shed from April 1965, where it was withdrawn from service in December 1966 and sold to Woodham Brothers at Barry in South Wales for scrap. Where it would remain rusting away until until December 1980 when it was rescued for preservation. From then its restoration took a long while to complete as it was moved around a lot to a number of heritage railways and engineering sites until its restoration was finally completed at the North Yorkshire Moors Railway in September 2019.
