'Sapper' is a wartime Hunslet 'Austerity' 0-6-0ST built in 1943. She worked for the War Department at various installations until being sold to the National Coal Board. She worked at Bold Colliery, becoming the last industrial steam locomotive at work in the UK, until retirement in 1984. For the next 10 years she was to be found at the Chatterley Whitfield Mining Museum; now she is awaiting completion of overhaul on the South Devon Railway. 18th July 2007
