Former Furness Railway 0-4-0 No. 20 one of the worlds oldest working steam locomotives is to visit the Pontypool & Blaenavon Railway for the first time during late May and early June 2023, as part of the 40th anniversary celebrations of the Pontypool & Blaenavon Railway this year. Also No. 20 herself celebrates her 160th birthday this year.

The new home for former Deutsche Bundesbahn (German Federal Railways) 2-6-2T No. 64.305 will be in East Germany near Leipzig. Also here is a bit more history on No. 64.305, No. 64.305 first arried at the Nene Valley Railway back in 1977 after a short spell at the Severn Valley Railway and operated at the Nene Valley Railway during the 1980s. In 1988 No. 64.305 loaned its steam airbrake pump for use on No. 4472 (60103) "Flying Scotsman" during her visit to Australia from 1988 to 1989. No. 64.305 has been in storage at the shed at Wansford for a number of years now since it was taken out of service in the late 1980s and will be on display in the yard at Wansford on the Nene Valley Railway for the last time during the weekend of the 11th and 12th of March 2023. After this the locomotive will leave the Nene Valley Railway and the UK and return to her homeland of Germany where it will move to its new home near Leipzig in East Germany for restoration.

Former New South Wales Government Railways C36 Class 4-6-0 No. 3642 is back operational again for a limited time only and has been repainted in plane Black livery but for a short time only. No. 3642 will be operating trains during the Thirlmere Festival of Steam on the 18th and 19th of March 2023.

Updating previous notes. Delivery to DRB (rather than DRG!) - Deutsche Reichsbahn as No. 50 255 that then joined the DR - Deutsche Reichsbahn following WW2 in East Germany but was stored, on several occasions after 1950 for nearly a decade before going to Aw Stendal in 1961 for reconstruction, emerging as No. 50 3682. It was then stired for six months in 01/1968 awaiting repairs before being computerised in 1970 as 50 3682-7, working until late 1985 and being withdrawn in 1993 when it was purchased privately by Klaus-Peter Möller, for loan to the DLFS - Dampflokfreunde Salzwedel e. V., Salzwedel and by 06/2010 it had been stored due to engine damage.

Delivery in May 1942 at Posen (now Poznan, Poland) to the DRB -Deutsche Reichsbahn as No. 50 2228. It survived WW2 and joined newly created DR in the same identity. In 08/1960 it was called into their Aw Stendal workshops for reconstruction, emerging as No. 50 3624, being computerised in 1970 as 50 3624-9. It was withdrawn from traffic in early 1987 but not withdrawn until 1991. Bought privately in 1993 by Klaus-Peter Müller, who subsequenly loaned this to the DLFS - Dampflokfreunde Salzwedel e. V., Salzwedel, in its last identity.

Delivery in 05/1942 to the DRB - Deutsche Reichsbahn as No. 50 2308 ÜK at Bw Göttingen that, following WW2 found itself in the GDR and subsequently working for the DR - Deutsche Reichsbahn in the same identity. In 07/1959 it was called into Aw Stendal for reconstruction, emerging as No. 50 3570 until 1970 when computerised as No. 50 3570-4. It was shutdown in 10/1987 but not withdrawn until 1991. In 03/1992 it went to H. F. Wiebe KG, Nienburg (Weser) and, in 2003 on loan to DLFS - Dampflokfreunde Salzwedel e. V., Salzwedel in its latest guise.

Delivery in 12/1939 to DRB - Deutsche Reichsbahn as No. 50 217 at Aw Schwerte that, with the cessation of WW2 found itself in what became the GDR (East Germany) and joined the DR - Deutsche Reichsbahn in the same guise. It was stored 06/1960 - 10/1961 awaiting repairs, and was then reconstructed at Aw Stendal emerging with a combustion chamber boiler, (SKL Magdeburg 30486/1961) in 12/1961 as No. 50 3700 and, when computerised in 1970 became No. 50 3700-7. It finished running in 1990 and was converted at Aw Meiningen into a non-drivable heating locomotive (NHL), for Bw Halberstadt, later Bw Salzwedel [GDR] "50 3700-7" 06.10.1990 - __.__.1991 Use as a heating locomotive in the Salzwedel and from 06/1991 at Bw Güsten; from 1992 at Bw Brandenburg depot. When the DB merged with DR at the end of 1991 it was renumbered 050 700-4 and finally withdrawn in 1993 when it was later purchased privately by Klaus-Peter Müller, whence it went on loan to the ETB - Eisenbahnfreunde Traditionsbahnbetriebswerk Stassfurt and then, in 2013 on loan to the DLFS - Dampflokfreunde Salzwedel e. V., Salzwedel for a planned refurbishment as a rollable exhibition.

Delivery to DRB - Deutsche Reichsbahn as No. 50 2146 ÜK with acceptance at Aw Schwerte. After WW2 it found itself with the DR - Deutsche Reichsbahn [in the same guise, and was computerised in 1970 as No. 50 2146-4, working until 1988 and rofficial withdrawal in 1991 when it went to the BEM - Bayerisches Eisenbahnmuseum e. V., Nördlingen in its latter identity, later the City of Weiden,band intallation as a memorial as No. 50 2146 in Weiden repair shop.

It was called to Aw Stendal in 09/1958 for reconstruction, emerging as No. 50 3540 that, in 1970 became No. 50 3540-7 upon computerisation, it being withdrawn from traffic in 1988. In 1989 it went to Aw Meiningen into a steam dispenser for Bw Dresden Hbf from 01/1990. It was called in 10/1959 into their Aw Stendal for reconstruction as a Rekolok, emerging from here as No. 50 3576. It was again called to this workshop in 01/1963 where it also received the from from No. 50 3706 (Krupp 2399/1940 DRB 50 938) though the complete locomotive still reappeared as No. 50 3576, being computerised as No. 50 3576-1, working until 08/1991 then officially withdrawn the following month. in 09/1991 it went to the DBK - Dampfbahn Kochertal e. V., Crailsheim as No.50 3576 then, in .1993 to EVG - Eisenbahn-Verkehrsgesellschaft Aalen [as No. 50 3576-1; later in 1995 to the SDN - Schwaben-Dampf e. V., Neuoffingenp Bf., Offingen and, in 2001 to the NTB - Nassauische Touristik-Bahn e. V., Wiesbaden, Germany.

Delivery to, and acceptance by the DRB - Deutsche Reichsbahn as No. 50 1205 that from 01/1943 was leased to the CFR - Cailor Ferate Române, Romania and at the end of WW2 found itself in the Soviet sector of, by then the GDR - East Germany.with the the DR - Deutsche Reichsbahn. In 10/1961 it was called into their Aw Stendal for modification and emerged as No. 50 3691, being computerised in 1970 as No. 50 3691-8. It worked until early 1989 when it went to Aw Meiningen for conversion into a non-drivable heating locomotive (NHL), later working at Bw Wittenberge, being finally withdrawn in 01/1993. In 01/1995 it went to the publisher HC - Hessencourier e. V., Kassel-Wilhelmshöhe and privately, in the 21st Cen. to Bernd Falz, though some report this as going to/being at Altenbecken ?

Originally intended for delivery to DRB - Deutsche Reichsbahn as No. 50 3186 ÜK, that was actually produced in 12/1942 and accepted in 01/1943 by DRB - Deutsche Reichsbahn as No. 50 3163 ÜK that, in 08/1945 found itself in the RBGD - Reichsbahn General Directorate of the British Zone of Occupation, Bielefeld as No. 50 3163; later the ODE - Head Office of the German Railways of the French occupied zone, Speyer tgat, from 08/1946 became the D.O.C.F. - Detachment of occupation des Chemins de Fer Français, Speyer; then from 08/1947 SWDE - Association of Southwest German Railways, Speyer; only in late 1951 did it form part of DB - Deutsche Bundesbahn as No. 50 3163. It had a relatively early retirement, not running after 08/1955 and being withdrawn from Bw Ludwigshafen. The following year it went to the Technical University of Karlsruhe as a teaching object, in whose grounds it was in 1968, it being unclear whether dismantling was by DB or a third party?

This is Ostrowiece (now Lesser Poland) 415/1943, deliverd to DRB - Deutsche Reichsbahn as No. 50 2652 NOT to be confused DWM 415/1942 that became No. 50 2241). Following WW2 it was in the then East Germany running for the newly created DR - Deutsche Reichsbahn and, in 1970 it was computerised as No. 50 2652-1 and until withdrawal in 1986, followed by official retirement in 1987 when it then went to the Förderverein Industriemuseum Kaiserslautern e. V., Kaiserslautern and in 1991 to the city of Kaiserslautern, Kaiserslautern as No. 50 2652 where it was first placed as a monument during 1993 on the site of the former gasworks, Kaiserslautern and then, in 2003 outside the Bahntechnik Kaiserslautern GmbH, Kaiserslautern.

Delivery in 09/1942 to DRB - Deutsche Reichsbahn as No. 50 2995 at the repair shop in Floridsdorf, Wien, Austria with commissioning from depot Linz. It survived WW2 and found itself operating for DR - Deutsche Reichsbahn in the Soviet sector of the GDR until called, in 03/1959, for reconstruction at Aw Stendal, emerging at the end of the month as No. 50 3555 which, when computerised in 1970 became No. 50 3555-5. It was withdrawn in 1985 and placed on the reserve list until 1990 when it went to Aw Meiningen for conversion as a non-drivable heating locomotive (NH), working at Bw Magdeburg-Rothensee and/or Leipzig-Engelsdorf? It was withdrawn in 12/1991 shortly before being renumbered by the merging DB as No. 050 555-2 and then retired! whence it went privately into the Bernd Falz collection in Hermeskeil Steam Locomotive Museum as No. 50 3555.

It survived WW2 to then run for the emerging DR DR - Deutsche Reichsbahn who , in 04/1961 called it into Aw Stendal for a reconstruction, and emerged from here as No. 50 3662 which, in 1970 was computerised as No. 50 3662-9, running until withdrawn in 10/1990 and retired at the end of 1991. In 03/1992 it went privately to Bernd Falz as No. 50 3662 in Hermeskeil, Germany.

The locomotive was computerised in 06/1970 as No. 50 3014-3 and from 10/1979 was employed as a Heizlok at Bw [Dresden Hbf. It was withdrawn from service in 1982 before being purchased privately by Bernd Falz, initially stored in St. Wendel before moving in 1986 to his Dampflok-Museum Hermeskeil, as No. 50 3014 where it remained stored in 2022.

08.09.1942 Delivery in 08/1942 to DRB - Deutsche Reichsbahn as No. 50 2988 that, in 07/1945 found itself in the OBL-USZ - General operations management of the US zone, Frankfurt (Main) that the following year became the HVE - Main administration of the railways of the American and British occupation area that led, in 1949 to the formation of DB - Deutsche Bundesbahn in the then West Germany. The locomotive was computerised from 01/1968 as No. 052 988-3, being withdrawn from Bw Crailsheim in 06/1976. It was sold the following month to eurovapor, Zurich, Switzerland with it initially being stored in Waldshut and then Balsthal. In 09/1984 it went to their property in Wutachtalbahn, Germany and from 01/1998 to the WTB - Wutachtalbahn e. V., Blumberg, Germany as No. 50 2988. In 06/2016 it was with the DSB - Dampflokfreunde Schwarzwald-Baar e. V., Blumberg-Fützen, Germany with its NVR Number: of 90 80 0050 988-9 D-NESA.

Delivery to, and acceptance by DRB - Deutsche Reichsbahn as No. 50 1946 in 11/1941 which, following WW2 joined the East German DR - Deutsche Reichsbahn in the same identity, that was called in 09/1959 to their workshop at Aw Stendal for reconstruction, on release being numbered 50 3575. It was computerised in 05/1970 as No. 50 3575-3. In early 1979 it was rented for a short period to VEB Fleischkombinat Magdeburg and, in July that year to lVEB building management Aschersleben, as a heating locomotive. In 07/1991 it went to EBG - Eisenbahn-Betriebsgesellschaft mbH, Altenbecken for spare parts for other members of the class, including No. 50 3703. Whatever remained was probably cut-up during 1995 in Klostermansfeld ?

The actual construction number is 26296/1941 NOT 26276. In 1959 it was first renumbered as 50 3559 prior to computerisation in 1970. In 1988 this was the last steam locomotive to be worked in service by the DR. It was stored in 1990 and withdrawn the following year. It then went plinthed to the Bistro Ville Express in its latter guise. In 09/2016 it went to D&D Eisenbahngesellschaft mbH, Hagenow-Land, later tranferred to Benndorf for refurbishment at MaLoWa Bahnwerkstatt GmbH, where it still was in 2019.
