The ex War Department Hunslet built Austerity 0-6-0ST No. 75008 "Swiftsure" has been rostered to take part in the Dean Forest Railway s Royal Forest of Steam event on the weekend of the 15th to the 17th of June 2018. Replacing a unavailable No. 34 "Portbury" from the Bristol Harbour Railway for the event.

LMS Jinty 0-6-0T No. 47406 is also off on its travels from the Great Central Railway this summer as it is visiting the Ecclesbourne Valley railway in Derbyshire for there summer season as well.

No. 6990 "Witherslack Hall" is off on its travels as it is heading up North to visit the East Lancashire Railway again to help for the summer season there as it was quit popular last year there.

LMS Black 5 No. 45110 was one of the locomotives involved in hauling very last BR steam-hauled mainline train on the rail network of the UK on the 11th of August 1968. The train was the 1T57 "Fifteen Guinea Special" which ran from Liverpool via Manchester to Carlisle via the Settle and Carlisle Railway and back. 45110 was one of four locomotives working that final steam run along with sister Black 5s 44871 and now long since scrapped 44781 along with No. 70013 "Oliver Cromwell. 45110 worked the first and last leg of the journey from Liverpool to Manchester and back after which the locomotive went in to preservation at the Severn Valley Railway. To mark the 50th anniversary of the end of steam 45110 is to come out of the engine house museum and be on a rare display outside at Kidderminster Station for the Last Days of Steam event to be held on the 4th of August 2018.

LMS BR Built Ivatt 2MT 2-6-0 No. 46447 is to become the very first tender locomotive to run on the Isle of Wight when it come to visit the Isle of Wight Steam Railway for there Three Ivatt Gala from the 26th to the 28th of May 2018. Where the locomotive will join its Isle of Wight base 2MT Tank sisters No. 41298 and 41313. All three are owned by the Isle of Wight Steam Railway and No. 46447 will return back to the East Somerset Railway on the mainland after this event as it is on term loan to them.

I own an antiques store in ohio & recently acquired a manufacturers plate I believe come from this locomotive. I t reads: American locomotive Company 65274 Cooke Works Feb 1924

Former NCB Baggeridge Colliery Hunslet built Austerity 0-6-0ST No. 3776 "Warspite" is also at this private steam engineering site at Bolton in Lancashire as well. Where it to having its overhaul carried out. The locomotive could be under new ownership there?

Former CEGB, Goldington Andrew Barclay built 0-4-0ST No. 67 "Hong Kong Flyer" has relocated to a private steam engineering site at Bolton in Lancashire for its restoration back to running order which will take 10 to 15 years to complete.

It has been announced that LMS Black 5 No. 45231 "The Sherwood Forester" will be visiting the Severn Valley Railway for the summer season there from mid July to the end of September 2018. During its stay there the locomotive will take part in there Last Days of Steam Celebrations in August and will also be part of the line up of locos in there Autumn Steam Gala.

The North Eastern Locomotive Groups North Eastern Railway P3 or LNER J27 65894 s overhaul is now completed and the loco has been bully painted in BR Black livery and has began its test runs and readiness to enter traffic for the summer season at the North Yorkshire Moors Railway. Hopefully the J27 will be available for Gala visits to other preserved railways around the UK soon.

Alpha is currently under going a cosmetic restoration run by a group of young volunteers at SITTINGBOURNES STEAM RAILWAY. it is hoped that Alpha will have an overhaul and be back in steam within the next 30+ years.

No. 92134 is now at Grosmont MPD on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway where it has been parked inside the shed at the MPD which stands for Motive Power Depot and is now in 4 road, which is viewable to the public from the viewing point by the shop at Grosmont Depot (found by walking under the tunnel across the road from Grosmont station. The locomotive will soon move in to the main workshop for work to be carried out to get the locomotive running later this year or in early 2019.

No. 4270 is currently up at LNWR Heritage at Crewe for some work being carried out there. It will return to the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway when work is completed.

I found out why No. 34046 "Braunton" is still running as No. 34052 "Lord Dowding" still and the reason is for the 100th anniversary of the Royal Air Force this year. Which Lord Dowding him self played a big part in the Battle of Britain during the Second World War.

For its 100th birthday No. 376 "Norwegian" has been repainted back in the colours of the NSB Railways of Norway with red lining on the wheels and running plate apart from the K&ESR lettering on the tender.

This Locomotive is a 2-4-0T. It was built as an 0-6-0T, and 30”, But was later converted to narrow gauge and had the rods connecting the second axle to the first removed, making it a 2-4-0T, similar to how the John Bull was modified.

Apparently this locomotive, having replaced No. 6 outside the gare, carries (incorrectly) plates from the previous incumbent, its sister-locomotive (SLM 2873/1923), itself being re-plinthed in Mouxy, a short distance to the south-east of Ais-les-Bains.

News has come from Trains Magazine that No. 1361 one of Pennsylvania Railroads legendry K4 Class Pacific locomotives is on its way back to steam again as it is to get full restoration work which will see a new boiler made and fitted for the locomotive. Which will see the locomotive return to the North American mainlines again after a number of years out of action.

Former NCB Lambton System Hunslet Austerity 0-6-0ST No. 60 is to visit the Tanfield Railway as it is to be the star visiting locomotive for there Legends of Industry Steam Gala on the weekend of June 16th and 17th 2018.

The Furness Railway Trust ex War Department Hunslet built Austerity 0-6-0ST "Cumbria" has moved to the Embsay & Bolton Abbey Railway in Yorkshire on loan joining stable mate GWR 5600 Class 0-6-2T No. 5643 there.

The Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway Pug 0-4-0ST No. 51218 is undergoing a cosmetic restoration for it to be on display during the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway s 50th Anniversary Gala in 2018. However there are plans to have 51218 overhauled once the overhaul to Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway 0-6-0ST No. 752 is complete.
