Not been scrapped! Hesston Steam Museum has plans for it. Due to height restrictions, the tank will have to be scrapped, but if they can get it, they will either turn it into a display or convert it into a conventional tank engine for regular use.

Leviathan has been moved to the Star Barn Estates in Elizabethtown, PA. The funeral car is to be moved there soon as well and a three mile loop will be built to run her. Currently unknown if she will do any travelling anymore.

The Americanised Chinese 1985 built ex China Rail and Jitong Railway QJ Class 2-10-2 No. 6988 will be is steam for the first time since 2012 for some mainline steam trips on the Iowa Interstate Railroads mainline on the Weekend of August 18th and 19th 2018. On the 18th 6988 will be working out of Mitchellville on 45-minute trips there and the same out of Brooklyn, Iowa the following day.

The status of the most famous steam locomotive in South Africa No. 3450 ‘The Red Devil’ the unique Class 26 4-8-4 should now say operational as the locomotive steamed and ran for the first time in 15 years. No. 3450 will be operated by Ceres Rail Company between Ceres and Robertson which details will on the Ceres Rail website.

The BR Standard 4MT 2-6-4T No. 80072 has been a Television Star in the four part Channel 4 show "Great Rail Restorations". Where four vintage carriages spanning the railway ages from the 1860s to 1960 which are a four-wheeled coach from the Isle of Wight, the London South West Royal saloon for Queen Victoria from the Embsay & Bolton Abbey Railway and a Great Northern Saloon based at Llangollen and the Pullman coach Eagle from Tyseley Locomotive Works. Which have been restored to form a Time Train that No. 80072 hauls in the in the final episode being driven by presenter Peter Snow which was filmed at the Llangollen Railway.

No. 644 has now come out of service for its overhaul which like her sister No. 480 will also see a brand new boiler made and fitted to No. 644 which is being built at RCR Energy out there.

Former New Zealand Government Railways 4-6-4T No. 480 has recently returned to traffic at the Glenbrook Vintage Railway in May this year following the completion of a heavy overhaul and rebuild. Which has seen the fitment of a brand new boiler and is running really well then it did before out there.

Although 503 will not be scrapped, the city will not let her leave now. She shall remain in the city and the money donated to save her will be used in the transporting of NKP 587 to Ravenna, KY.

Some big news has come that former Nickel Plate Railroad Baldwin built 2-8-2 No. 587 is to relocated to the Kentucky Steam Heritage Corp (KSHC) new site at Ravenna in Kentucky for eventual re-build. This is due to its current home the Indiana Transportation Museum which has been located in Noblesville, Indiana for over thirty years, has recently been handed a court order to vacate their city-owned property after a nearly-year-long legal battle with the city. The locomotive will move to its new home on the 12th of July 2018. The Indiana Transportation Museum will still retain ownership of the locomotive but its restoration will be contracted by the Kentucky Steam Heritage Corp till time and money will allow.

The new build replica Lynton & Barnstaple Railway Baldwin 2-4-2T "Lyn" is to head to North Wales for the very first time. To be the star visiting locomotive at the Welsh Highland Railways Super Power weekend on the 14th to 16th of September 2018. The locomotive will be based on the northern section of the line at Dinas for the duration of its visit, and will provide the motive power for special trains running between Caernarfon and Rhyd Ddu. It might also be paired with Ffestiniog built Lynton & Barnstaple Railway Manning Wardle 2-6-2T "Lyd" at the gala as well.

The former New South Wales Government Railways C36 Class 4-6-0 No. 3642 has been withdrawn from service for overhaul. Having worked its last regular mainline trip out there yesterday. Its overhaul will take place in the workshops of the NSW Rail Museum at Thirlmere, New South Wales.

On July the 3rd this year will marks 80 years since 4468 "Mallard" reached the speed of 126mph down Stoke Bank. A world speed record for steam locomotives that still stands today. "Mallard" herself is also 80 years old this year as well and still holds the title as the worlds fastest steam locomotive.

Wikipedia suggests that this is W G Bagnall 1737 of 1903. The build date of 1956 seems most unlikely.

Plans to bring Brienz Rothorn Railway SLM Winterthur built 0-4-0cog No. 2 to visit Snowdon Mountain Railway in North Wales are back on. The 1891 built locomotive will be shipped to the UK for its visit to Snowdon in September where it will take on the climb to the Summit of the highest mountain in Wales and England for the very first time.

The 18inch gauge former John Knowles Ltd Hunslet built 0-4-0WT "Jack" is back in service following completion of its overhaul at the Statfold Barn Railway at Tamworth in Staffordshire. Which is to be its home for the foreseeable future as the Leeds Industrial Museum have placed it on long term loan to them. "Jack" can be seen running on Statfold s 18inch gauge line that runs between Tram station and Oak Tree there on open days.

Former Sierra Leone Government Railways Hunslet built 2-6-2T No. 85 has since returned back home to the Welshpool & Llanfair Light Railway in Montgomeryshire Wales. No. 85 is currently on display at Llanfair Caerenion station while it awaits its turn for overhaul back in to service.

Former Blackpool Gasworks Peckett built 0-4-0ST No. 1 "Lytham St. Annes" has gone on loan to the Stainmore Railway at Kirkby Stephen in Westmoreland on a 12 month hire to them. Where it will be steaming along side bigger sister Peckett 0-4-0ST "F.C.Tingey".
