United States Navy 0-4-0T No. 3Posted by: Matthew Gardner on Jul 30, 2024 @ 15:07:56
A friend of mine asked the owner of this engine about buying it, and was declined. Also, as this engine was an oil burner during its life, its firebox is severely worn out.

United States Army 0-6-0 No. 4039Posted by: Matthew Gardner on Jul 30, 2024 @ 15:07:23
Is not under restoration any longer. Was the victim of a lot of mismanagement due to too many contractors involved in the restoration, and many parts were lost. Including the original boiler, which needed to be replaced. It cannot even be made into a display piece at this time.

Chiriqui Land Co. 2-6-0 No. 46Posted by: Matthew Gardner on Jul 30, 2024 @ 15:07:51
This locomotive is no longer under restoration. The museum is no longer interested in having operating steam on its property. Although, the engine is so far done that the question of simply putting it back together for display would be mute as you might as well complete the mechanical restoration. I also heard another interesting piece of information from somebody about this engine. The boiler with it is actually not the original. It is that from a standard gauge 0-4-0t which was scrapped long ago. The original boiler from this engine was also scrapped long ago.

JGSDF 101st Railway Construction Unit 0-4-0T No. NonePosted by: Yuki Taki on Jul 24, 2024 @ 23:07:45
Status should be "Display". Location is Nakagawa Seiryu Tetsudo Hozonkai (Nakagawa River Railroad Preservation Society), Nasu-Karasuyama, Tochigi, Japan. The locomotive is not actually numbered. 101 is the number of the SDF unit it served under, JGSDF 101st Railway Construction Unit (active 1960-1966). After disbanding of the 101st, the locomotive was displayed at JGSDF Camp Asaka from 1966 to 1993, when it was sold to a scrapper in Ibaraki and sat in the yard until 2010, when it was brought to the current location and cosmetically restored. The new owners painted it to resemble a brass model locomotive. Apart from a brief stint displayed at a local supermarket parking lot, the locomotive has remained under cover at Nakagawa since it was rescued in 2010.

Kubiki Railway 0-6-0T No. 2Posted by: Yuki Taki on Jul 24, 2024 @ 21:07:12
Status should be "Display". Kubiki 2 has not been operational since 1976. Initially retired from service at the Kubiki Railway in 1966, the locomotive sat on display from 1967 to 1971, and was leased and overhauled for use at the Seibu Yamaguchi line (a 2.8km amusement park railway, but legally a full-fledged rail line that lasted from 1971 to 1984). Seibu purchased its own locomotives from Taiwan and restored it over the winter of 1976, replacing the leased Kubiki 2 and returning it, cold, to its owners. It has led a comfortable retirement in the Kubikino Rail Park building ever since, being pushed out into the sun when the weather permits during open house events.
