The status of the 1975 built working replica of "Locomotion No. 1", is operational as the replica Stephenson locomotive is being moved to the Great Central Railway for testing and running-in trials as part of the plans to certify it to run on the mainline for the Railway 200 celebrations this year. "Locomotion No. 1" will be at the Great Central Railway from mid-January until the end of February 2025. Afterwords the locomotive and its new replica train of new Chaldron waggons and carriage "Experimant" will then move to the Weardale Railway at Wolsingham in Durham for further testing and trials to measure the locomotive’s water, coal and oil consumption. Which those will determine how its three days of demonstration runs between Shildon, Darlington and Stockton from the 26th to 28th of September 2025, will be pathed to accommodate stops for refuelling and checks of bearings during those special runs then.

The ex LNER A4 Pacific No. 4464 "Bittern", will be leaving the One:One Collection (Locomotive Storage Ltd.) at Margate in Kent, and is to be brought back to Locomotive Services Ltd’s at LNWR Heritage at Crewe in Cheshire in readiness for her next overhaul to mainline standards.

Instead of an overhaul, the world famous Fowler/Stanier rebuilt LMS Royal Scot Class 4-6-0 No. 46100 "Royal Scot", will be moving to One:One Collection (Locomotive Storage Ltd.) at Margate in Kent, in the former Hornby Model Railway factory warehouse for undercover storage and display while it awaits its next overhaul.

Currently in Dublin, the ex Great Northern Railway (Ireland) V Class 4-4-0 No. 85 "Merlin", will soon be moving back to the Railway Preservation Society of Ireland’s base at Whitehead, Northern Ireland, for its overhaul to be carried out in the workshops there.

The ex Great Northern Railway (Ireland) S Class 4-4-0 No. 171 "Slieve Gullion", the flagship locomotive for the Railway Preservation Society of Ireland, has been moved to Dublin in the Republic of Ireland for running-in trials and testing on the mainline network of the Republic. The reason for this move is due to the lack of suitiable mainline steam crews to operate the locomotive on the mainlines of Northern Ireland. Its planned for No. 171 to operate the Railway Preservation Society of Ireland’s mainline railtours around Dublin.

The former Dinorwic Slate Quarry Hunslet 0-4-0ST Works No. 873 "Una", is to be moved temporarily to the Ffestiniog Railway at Porthmadog, Gwynedd in North Wales to undergo overhaul in their workshops for the new National Slate Museum at Llanberis, Gwynedd in North Wales which is due to open in 2026 following a £21 million redevelopment project and its hoped "Una" will be ready before the opening then.

The former Rugby Portland Cement Co. Ltd and R & Y Pickering, Sentinel built 4wVBGT (Works No. 9559) No. 4, has now left the Tanfield Railway and has relocated to its new home at the North Tyneside Steam Railway at West Chirton in Northumberland, as it has been sold to a member of the North Tyneside Steam Railway Association, and is to undergo full restoration to full working order as part of their growing steam locomotive fleet.

The ex Park Hill Colliery Hudswell Clark built 0-6-0T (Works No. 1884) No. S102 "Cathryn", will be leaving Peak Rail as its loan to them is to expire this Spring, as the locomotive will be returning home to the Ecclesbourne Valley Railway at Wirksworth in Derbyshire, to be part of their resident steam fleet there.

The visit of ex War Department and NCB Robert Stephenson & Hawthorns built Austerity 0-6-0ST Works No. 7289 (WD No. 71480) "Fred", to the Battlefield Line at Shackerstone in Leicestershire for their Winter Warmer Gala weekend on the 11th and 12th January 2025, will see the locomotive now based at the railway as "Fred" will take up residence as their main steam locomotive.

The whistle of ex North Eastern Railway 1875 built 2-4-0 No. 910, was sounded today on compressed air along with 200 locomotives around the UK and the world to mark the start Railway 200. Celebrating the opening of the Stockton and Darlington Railway 200 years ago this year and the start of the modern railway that we know today. No. 910 is only locomotive to have featured in all three anniversary celebrations of the Stockton and Darlington Railway in 1875, 1925 and 1975. No. 910 is currently undergoing cosmetic restoration in the workshops at Locomotion, Shildon.

Having finnished its busy mainline running season for the year, the ex LMS Black Five 4-6-0 No. 44871, has returned to the East Lancashire Railway for movement to Riley & Son Engineering Ltd. at Bury for its winter maintenance to be ready for another season on the mainline and heritage railway circuit in 2025. No. 44871 has had a really busy season on the mainline hauling trains for railtour operator the Railway Touring Company during 2024, as with the current situation of the lack of central door locking not being fitted to West Coast Railway Company’s fleet of Mk1 Carriages for steam charter use and the use of their air braked Mk2 carriages being used instead along with the lack of other suitable steam locomotives with air braking available to haul those trains during the year, this ex LMS Black Five 4-6-0 did an enormous amount of work on the mainline during 2024. A credit to Riley & Son Engineering Ltd. operating No. 44871 in 2024.

Having worked its final trains at the Dean Forest Railway, the ex GWR ‘Small Prairie’ 2-6-2T No. 5541, has now been withdrawn from service having come to the end of its 10 year boiler ticket. No. 5541 will now await its next overhaul as the Dean Forest Railway are currently working on the overhaul of ex ex GWR 5700 Class 0-6-0PT No. 9682, to get it finnished before they can start the overhaul on No. 5541.

The 567 Loco Group have been donated a sutiable surviving Great Central locomotive tender for use with their new-build Great Central Railway (LNER) D7 4-4-0 No. 567. The tender currently at Ruddington will be moved to the Great Central Railway’s workshops in Loughborough shed for restoration ready for use with No. 567.

Is there even a way to get in contact with the museum or anyone related to it? Because doing a simple search shows the museum has permanently closed and looking on google street view, it definitely shows it.
