From a report in the Railway Magazine there are no plans to put Union Pacific Railroad 4-6-6-4 Challenger No. 3985 in steam anytime soon sadly. As the Union Pacific Steam Program only want two active steam locomotives running being their famous 4-8-4 No. 844 and Big Boy 4-8-8-4 No. 4014. The condition of 3985 has been described as being worse then 4014 was when it was picked up for the UP Steam Program from the late 1980s. Instead it is now planned to place 3985 on static display for now somewhere.

British Railways 2-10-0 No. 92219Posted by: Russell Newman on Jun 15, 2019 @ 12:06:26
BR Standard 9F 2-10-0 No. 92219 was actually built in January 1960 at Swindon and one of three 9Fs built at the same time along side the famous 9F No. 92220 "Evening Star" that year. The 3rd was 92218 which sadly did not survive. No. 92219 worked with British Railways till its withdrawal from service in 1965 at Cardiff East Shed. Saved for preservation from Dai Woodhams Yard at Barry Island in South Wales in May 1985, it has been with different owners over the years. The plan for No. 92219 with its current owner is for it to be restored to full running condition again as the last BR built steam locomotive running. As parts are being gathered before its restoration can get underway.

Cameroon Development Corporation 0-4-2PT No. 1 'Tamar'Posted by: Russell Newman on Jun 14, 2019 @ 13:06:50
The former Cameroon Development Corporation Hunslet built 0-4-2PT No. 3756 named "Tamar" has been taken out of the display roundhouse and has been moved to the traverser shed at Statfold for restoration which work is now underway. "Tamar" is a oil burning locomotive but when restored it will not burn conventional heavy fuel oil that has been traditionally associated with oil burning steam locos. Instead the loco is to be used as a platform to test alternatives types of organic oils that could be used in the oil burning process. Which could help try to limit the effect of steam locomotives on the environment and looking to reduce their carbon footprint.
