New York, Chicago & St. Louis RR 4-6-0 No. 44Posted by: Matthew Gardner on Nov 16, 2021 @ 13:11:41
Engine is in worst shape of all engines at Steamtown other than the shay. Tender rotted out, feeder pipes rotted to point person can stick hands through them, holes in smokebox door, hole in firebox, openings where feeder pipes go into cylinders rotted out horribly, all asbestos still on engine, grease in drive rod bearings dried and cracking, studs on cylinder castings broken, you name it! Will absolutely be whole new engine by time you are done with if restored to working order.

SNCV 0-6-0Tram No. HL.979Posted by: Steve Frost, European Editor on Nov 16, 2021 @ 13:11:16
The loco carries an intriguing works plate. In the centre of the brass plate is a section stamped "W D Ind O P 125" which does not accord with the rest of the plate. Perhaps this dates from the Great War with the loco used for a while by the British Army when Belgium was occupied by German forces. Certainly, I doubt if it could have been delivered to Belgium in 1917!
