British Railways (Southern Railway) 4-6-2 No. 35005 (21C5) 'Canadian Pacific'Posted by: Russell Newman on Apr 4, 2022 @ 12:04:39
The overhaul on ex Southern Railway rebuilt Bulleid Merchant Navy Class Pacific No. 35005 "Canadian Pacific" has seen a brand new 5250-gallon tender tank built and fitted at the Mid Hants Railway’s Ropley workshops. Work on the locomotive it self is progressing at Arlington Rail Services in Eastleigh and it is hoped that No. 35005 will be completed in 2023. After the locomotive will return to the Mid Hants Railway to be there new flagship locomotive as it will not be going mainline again as instead No. 35005 will operate at the Mid Hants Railway and will also go out for Gala visits as well.

The Andrew Barclay built 0-4-0ST Works No. 2220 "Invicta" has been put up for sale at £15,000. It is currently part way through its overhaul but up to go to a good new home.

The 2008-built Hunslet Wren 0-4-0ST Works No. 3905 "Jennie" will be visiting the Bala Lake Railway for their Bala at 50 Gala from the 30th of April to the 2nd of May 2022.

The former Devon County Council Kerr Stuart & Co built 0-4-0ST Works No. 4256 "Peter Pan" will be visiting Stoomcentrum Maldegem in Belgium for their Maldegem’s Steam Festival from the 31st of April to May 1st 2022.

Originally delivered, as the last of it’s Class, to DR as No. 23 1113, that became, on computerisation, No. 35 1113. It was, upon withdrawal, preserved at VMD, Dresden and later by the BSW at nearby Nossen, though still financed by the DB Museums Fleet as No. 35 1113.

Delivered directly to DR as No. 23 1097, when later computerised it became No. 35 1097-1 and lasted in service until November 1981, then purchased by the HEF at Frankfurt am Main. In 1996 it went to the BSW, Glauchau but has visited several events throughout the country since.

Another locomotive that was delivered directly to the DR as No. 23 1074 (slip of the finger for amendment please), later with computerisation to become re-classified No. 35 1074-0, surviving until 1980 at Bw Gera. It then served time as a Dsp. In 1993 it went to Nördlingen and then, in 1996 to Hei Na Ganzlin, Röbel for the swap of it’s boiler with No. 35 1028, but neither locomotives are believed to be operational again ? Currently believed to be located at Görlitz-Schlauroth?

This locomotive was delivered directly to DR as No. 23 1028 until computerisation it was re-classified, as were the whole class, to Class 35, it becoming No. 35 1028-6, lasting in traffic until 1980 and then used as a Stationary Boiler, Dispolok (Dsp) at RAW Görlitz. At the end of 1993, under the auspices of DB, it was purchased by BEM Nördlingen (but given it’s condition it may have never reached there) and in 1996 subsequently moved to Röbel being exchanged with LKM boiler No. 123074 off sister locomotive, formerly known as DR No. 23 1074 by owners Hei Na Ganzlin.

Delivered directly to the DR as No. 23 1021, upon computerisation all the Class were re-classified as Class 35, this becoming No. 35 1021-1, being withdrawn from service in 1977, less than two decades after production! From DR withdrawal however, it found further employment for VEB, a paper manufacturer near Zittau until 1991, then for the EBG at Borchen until, in 1994, it caught the eye of authorities in Prora, Rügen where it been displayed for several years.

The locomotive was delivered directly to DR as their No. 23 1019, later with computerisation to be re-classified as No. 35 1019-5 working through to 1977, being displayed at Hoyerswerda the following year. It was bought by the Lausitzer club in 1993 and taken to Cottbus.

This was originally delivered to DR as No. 65 1057 that, with computerisation became No. 65 1057-2. It is Standard gauge, runs with coal. It was withdrawn from service early in the 1991, prior to merger with DB and was purchased by BEF at Basdorf, just north of Berlin.

The former Hardman & Holden Peckett built 0-4-0T No. "Marcia" has returned to steam again at the Kent & East Sussex Railway, following completion of its comprehensive overhaul in late February 2022.

This locomotive was served in Eastern Germany and was withdrawn from Bw Cottbus in 1993 as DR No. 65 1008-5. (It was NEVER believed to have been numbered 65 008-5 ?, that being a former DB locomotive!) It was made a Traditionslok at Cottbus in ii’s last few years whilst at Cottbus and finally withdrawn under the auspices of DB in 1993. I was purchased in 1994 and is kept at Bw Pasewalk.

This was originally Latvian Railways, wen part of the USSR. In 1966 it was on the Od-K, Vapnjarka and, in 1990 with the EMR, Estonia, later at Pärnu. It reached the MBB in 1995.

This. Locomotive was originally supplied to Latvia and, in 1955, was moved to Haivoron, Ukraine (then part of the USSR). It was preserved in 1979.

Originally delivered to Lettland Railways, Latvia as No Gr-319. In 1966 it was working in Vapnjarka and then later on the EMR, Lavassaare, Estonia and, in 1990, at Pärnu, where it was in 2005.

This locomotive was first deployed in Lithuania and, 1955-1977 ran at Hailvoron, Kirovohrad Oblast, Ukraine (where No. Gr-280 was based in 2020). Later, 1978-1983 it was at Novopoltavka, Mykolayiv Oblast, Ukraine before returning to Hailvoron in 1984, observed here in 2004.
