British Railways 2-6-4T No. 80064Posted by: Russell Newman on Dec 13, 2023 @ 11:12:27
Following its move to the West Somerset Railway, the ownership of BR Standard 4MT 2-6-4T No. 80064, has now been transferred over to the West Somerset Railway Association. As the locomotive has been gifted to them by the 80064 Locomotive Fund, and the plan is to overhaul No. 80064 as soon as possible for use on the West Somerset Railway. Although No. 80064 never worked over the West Somerset line for British Railways in the steam era, it had finished its working days with BR in the West of England working out of Bristol (Barrow Road) Shed. Before then it spent much of its time working in Kent, then moving west to work on the former Southern Region lines out of Exmouth Junction.
