The ex War Department Hunslet built Austerity 0-6-0ST No. 132 "Sapper" has relocated to the Kent & East Sussex Railway at Tenterden in Kent, where it is currently undergoing winter maintenance ready for another running season for 2024 there.

Located at the Kent & East Sussex Railway at Tenterden in Kent, ex War Department Hunslet built Austerity 0-6-0ST No. 75008 "Swiftsure" has now been withdrawn from service for its 10 year overhaul which is starting to get underway.

As part of her 100th birthday tour of preserved railways around the UK for 2024, the famous ex GWR Castle Class 4-6-0 No. 4079 "Pendennis Castle", is to make a special visit to the Churnet Valley Railway in Staffordshire for the first time during the whole of May 2024. During her visit there No. 4079 will take part in a very special Steam Gala Weekend to celebrate her 100th birthday, alongside other visiting steam locomotives as well as the Churnet Valley Railway’s own steam locomotive fleet.

With construction of New-build LMS Patriot 4-6-0 No. 5551 "The Unknown Warrior", now continuing at Tyseley Locomotive Works, the aim of the LMS Patriot Project, is to have the locomotive complted and steamed in 2027? But No. 5551 will not be running on the mainline yet as more work is needed for that, as instead it is now planned for the locomotive to operate on preserved railways around the UK during its first ticket in steam and it save an estimate in construction of the locomotive too, before any work to upgrade to manline standards.

The boiler for 3883 is currently undergoing repairs to the firebox backplate at MR-B, with the section below the firehole being replaced. It is intended to get the locomotive back into service, possibly later this year (2024).

Locomotive number 3 was built in 1910 by the Tampella Locomotive Works in Tampere, Finland, with construction number 157. The manufacturers license plates were accidentally swapped with another locomotive that was already available from the builder, and the locomotive always had the wrong manufacturer number 158. The locomotive was originally on display at the Karkkila bus station, but was handed over to the Jokioinen Museum Railway in 1993 and restored there. In 2006 it returned to Karkkila and is on display in the town hall there. 60.532401° 24.202961°

377 Was leased by Toledo Lake Erie & Western Railway from 1969-1974 on a 5-year lease from the C&O. The lease was not renewed and the locomotive went to the B&O Museum.

2024 marks a very special year for the famous ex GWR Castle Class 4-6-0 No. 4079 "Pendennis Castle", as the locomotive celebrates its 100th birthday, and to kicke start her visits out on the heritage railway circuit around the UK, No. 4079 will be the star visiting locomotive at Keighley & Worth Valley Railway for the first time at their Spring Steam Gala from the 21st to 24th of March 2024. A 100th birthday celebration is also being planned for the locomotive at Didcot on the 2nd and 3rd of March 2024.

The ex LMS 4F 0-6-0 No. 44422, has been moved into the shed at Cheddleton on the Churnet Valley Railway, for an inspection of its boiler and an oppertunity for a cosmetic make over and to have a repaint.

Having not worked a train since the end of 2022, ex LMS Princess Coronation Class Pacific 4-6-2 No. 6233 "Duchess of Sutherland" is undergoing an intermediate overhaul at its base at the Princess Royal Locomotive Trust base at their West Shed at the Midland Railway - Butterley, as she is having new driving wheel tyres fitted along with work on the firebox and some other work that will give No. 6233 fresh new mainline and boiler ticket. The Princess Royal Locomotive Trust, hope to have No. 6233 "Duchess of Sutherland" back out on the mainline and heritage railway circuit in 2024.

They have been some rumours that Tyseley Locomotive Works could be selling ex LMS, Jubilee Class 4-6-0 No. 5593 "Kolhapur", as the there are no plans for the locomotive to be overhauled. But in a report in Trackside Magazine from the head of Vintage Trains, it is down to the trustees of Tyseley to decide as they are having a strategic fleet review and it is down to them on what will happen to No. 5593.

Tyseley Locomotive Works and their Vintage Trains have announced that ex GWR Hall Class 4-6-0 No. 4965 "Rood Ashton Hall" to be overhauled and returned to the mainline again, meaning that it should steam in time for its 100th birthday in 2030, and also Oil-firing is also being contemplated for the locomotive.

The ex Glasgow Corporation Gasworks, Andrew Barclay built 0-4-0T (Works No. 2207) No. 8 "Dougal", is relocating to the Sittingbourne & Kemsley Light Railway at Sittingbourne in Kent, on a four-year loan from the Welshpool and Llanfair Light Railway, during which it will return to steam. Both railways are two of the only surviving 2ft 6inch gauge lines in the UK, and have cooperated closely for many years. Both railways have agreed to the loan of "Dougal", which will include an overhaul that will return the locomotive to operational condition. "Dougal" will make its move in early 2024.

The former Canadian National Railway, 1912 built 2-8-0 No. 2141, is on display at the Kamloops Heritage Railway Park, as sadly due to track access issues it can no longer operate tourist trains, but can be viewed on display.

The former Canadian Pacific Railroad, G5c Class Pacific No. 1238, will be leaving the Praire Dog Central Railway and relocating to its new home at the Waterloo Central Railway at St. Jacobs in the state of Ontario. As the Railway has successfully bought the locomotive for use with them and will undergo restoration to operation as Canada’s second-largest operating steam locomotive.
