The ex GWR 9400 Class 0-6-0PT No. 9466, will be visiting the Dean Forest Railway for their Royal Forest of Steam Gala weekend being held on the 2nd and 3rd of November 2024.

The overhaul of BR Standard 4MT 2-6-4T No. 80105, is now completed as the locomotive was succesfully steamed, and is now operationl and set for testing and running in trials before entering service at the Bo’ness & Kinneil Railway this Autumn in time for their Steam, Steel, Road & Rail Gala being held from the 11th to 13th of October 2024.

I’ve been there recently and I have seen that many parts are stolen like gauges, whistle, and Brocken parts etc. but the locomotive looks fine I have a petition if you want to sign at: https://www.change.org/p/clean-fix-up-this-0-4-0t-switcher-for-it-s-100th-birthday

The ex London, Brighton & South Coast Railway A1X Class Terrier 0-6-0T No. 672 "Fenchurch", will be visiting the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway for the very first time for their Autumn Steam Up Gala from the 4th to 6th of October 2024.

The ex China Rail and Jitong Railway QJ Class 2-10-2 No. 6988, has now left the Railroading Heritage of Midwest America shops at Silvis, Illinois, and is being moved back to the Central States Steam Preservation Association’s base at Newton, Iowa for storage along side sister QJ 7081, for the time being while the Railroading Heritage of Midwest America are focusing on the overhaul’s of both the famous Union Pacific Railroad 4-6-6-4 Challenger No. 3985, and former Union Pacific Railroad 2-10-2 No. 5511. When their overhaul’s are completed 6988 will be returned to the Railroading Heritage of Midwest America shops at Silvis, Illinois, for her overhaul to begin. But before going into storage at Newton, Iowa, 6988 will be on public display at Des Moines, Iowa to help celebrate 40 years of Iowa Interstate Railroad.

The overhaul of ex Great Western Railway 14XX Class 0-4-2T No. 1450, is now in its final stages as the boiler was successfully steam tested at the Flour Mill Works where the locomotive is being overhauled. New slide valves have been compleated at Bridgenorth shed on Severn Valley Railway and it is hoped the No. 1450 will return there later this year for testing and running-in trials.

The ex Shelton Iron & Steel Co. Dubs & Co. built 0-4-0CT Works No. 4101 known as "Dubsey", is currently under overhaul at the Foxfield Railway, which work is progressing well as the boiler is in really good condition and brand new dumb buffers have been fitted and the crane jib and chains are being inspected.

The restoration of the former South African Railways NG15 Class 2-8-2 No. 134 "Kalahari", has now been completed and the locomotive is now operational, and is set to be launched into service at the Welsh Highland Railway from the 13th of September 2024.

The Bluebell Railway has launched a appeal to help raise £150,000 for the overhaul of their flagship former South Eastern & Chatham Railway P Class 0-6-0T No. 323 "Bluebell", as it was discovered that the boiler from sister P Class 0-6-0T No. 178, that was planned to be used was in need of a new firebox backplate. The overhaul of the boiler is to be contracted at the Severn Valley Railway’s boiler shops at Bridgenorth as it is hoped that No. 323 will be in steam again in 2025 or early 2026, details for the appeal can be found on the Bluebell Railway’s website and social media sites.

For the Brighton Works themed Gala event at the Bluebell Railway over the Bank Holiday weekend on the 24th and 26th of August 2024, BR Standard 4MT 2-6-4T No. 80151, will be running in the guise of long lost class mate No. 80154, which was the very last steam locomotive to be built in Brighton in 1957.

Construction of the new-build LNWR George the Fifth Class 4-4-0 No. 2013 "Prince George", is continuing at Crewe Heritage Centre at Crewe in Cheshire, where the locomotive is currently located at.

Parts scattered around the museum. Most of them are at the shops and are visible like her frame, wheels, and cab. Number plate in the main building.

The overhaul of the unique British Railways Standard 8P Class Pacific No. 71000 "Duke of Gloucester", is now in the final stages of completion at Tyseley Locomotive Works and is soon to be moved to the Severn Valley Railway for testing and running in trials at the end of September 2024. When testing is completed No. 71000 will relocate to its new home at LNWR Heritage at Crewe for mainline testing and final painting before entering service on the mainline and heritage railway circuit with Locomotive Services Ltd.

Some new information has come up as ex Iron Co. Andrew Barclay built 0-6-0T (Works No. 1245) No. 14, is not at the Flour Mill Works undergoing overhaul as she is still operational and still located at the Lakeside & Haverthwaite Railway at Haverthwaite in Cumbria.

The ex British Sugar Corporation Hudswell Clark built 0-6-0ST (Works No. 1682) No. 54 "Julia", is not located at Israel Newton & Sons Ltd. as first thought, the locomotive is instead located at Brookside Engineering at Whaley Bridge in Derbyshire, where its restoration is continuing there.

The overhaul of ex Metropolitan Railway 0-4-4T Met No. 1, has been changed to a cosmetic overhaul now as the Buckinghamshire Railway Centre have decided to postpone the return to steam on hold for now. Met No. 1 will be done up for display for the time being.

Due to the lack of mainline work with the on going door locking issuse for West Coast Railway Company, for the first time ever the ex LMS Black Five 4-6-0 No. 44932, will visit the Severn Valley Railway for the very first time for their Autumn Steam Gala from the 19th and 22nd of September 2024. This will be the first time No. 44932 has visited another preserved railway since the 1990s having been formerly based at the Midland Railway - Butterley during its early preservation years before being sold to West Coast Railway Company in the 2000s.
