JZ (SHS) 0-6-0T No. 61.002 (2002)Posted by: Dale W Fickés on Sep 5, 2022 @ 08:09:50
The construction number, from my records, is dubious - as is the date of 1922 for O&K. This is far more likely to be Henschel & Sohn, Kassel No. 19489/1922 who would have achieved such numbers by that date although this is not recorded on their list of extant locomotives. Unfortunately a build plate was/is not evident on the locomotive. It could, of course, have been sub-contracted by O&K ? More probably it has been mis-identified for a number of years. Niš is in Nišava, Serbia. The locomotive itself was not at the station, but north of the centre.

OSE (USATC) 2-8-0 No. 701 (3278) 'Franklin D Roosevelt'Posted by: Russell Newman on Sep 4, 2022 @ 08:09:37
The overhaul on ex United States Army Transportation Corps S160 2-8-0 No. 3278 ‘Franklin D Roosevelt’ is also progressing at Cheddleton sheds on the Churnet Valley Railway since it arrived there in early 2021. Having not operated since 1999 the current work being carried out on No. 3278 is the installation of the screw reverse and the construction of the smokebox front. As unlike British locomotives the S160s don’t have a traditional smokebox door as the plate that covers the front of the smokebox with a smaller door that enables access as required. This door is off centre in order to provide room for the air pump mounted on the front of the locomotive.
