Thanks for your note, Max. Actually, the vast majority of locos of South African Railways are shown as SAR irrespective of location so, for overall consistency, I have changed all of the UK locos from South African Railways to SAR.

The former Courtaulds Ltd Peckett built 0-4-0T Works No. 1900 "Flying Buffer Beam" is currently undergoing overhaul in the workshops of the Buckinghamshire Railway Centre which is making good progress.

Having been in storage at the East Lancashire Railway for a while now, the ex War Department Robert Stephenson & Hawthorn built Austerity 0-6-0ST No. 75050 "Norman", is now leaving the railway and relocating to Southern Locomotives Ltd’s restoration site at Sellindge in Kent, where its overhaul will continue until there is suitable space made at Herston Works next to the Swanage Railway.

It has been announced that ex Southern Railway rebuilt Bulleid West Country Class Light Pacific No. 34028 "Eddystone", is to return to the mainline again for the first time in preservation, as its owners Southern Locomotives Ltd. plan to have the locomotive fitted with air brakes and the mainline safety equipment for running on Network Rail during the winter.

It has been confirmed that BR Standard 4MT 2-6-0 No. 76079, has been put up for sale by the North Yorkshire Moors Railway as its future there is uncertain. The former mainline performer once known as the "Pocket Rocket" is currently in undercover storage in the carriage sheds at Pickering awaiting a buyer to come forword.

The former Gwalior Pacific Railway of Western Railway Bagnall built 4-6-2 Pacific No. 765, is also now located at the Vale of Rheidol Railway at Aberystwyth, Ceredigion in Wales, where it is in storage in one of the sheds at Aberystwyth with her sister No. 762.

The ex LMS Black Five 4-6-0 No. 44932, has been hired by Riley & Son Engineering Ltd. (owner of No. 45047 and No. 44871 and custonian of No. 45212) to go visit the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway for the first time during November and December 2024 to work their Elf Explorer Trains and other Christmas trains over the Christmas season into the New Year, while No. 45212 is on Polar Express runs this Christmas.

The 4709 Group (builders of new-build GWR 47XX Class 2-8-0 "Night Owl" No. 4709) have completed the purchase of the components for ex GWR Castle Class 4-6-0 No. 7027 "Thornbury Castle", following the final tranche of the purchase price being paid. The chassis and other components of the locomotive were moved to Tyseley earlier this year for safekeeping, and following the completion of the agreed payment for work to start. An inspection of 7027’s boiler will be completed soon with the hope that it can be used in the construction of No. 4709. Following the inspection, a schedule of tasks can then be compiled that will bring it back into full working order. The chassis of No. 7027 and other components that made up the balance of the deal will be stored for future railway projects.

The ex South African Railways NG15 Class 2-8-2 No. 134 "Kalahari", has moved under steam for the first time in preservation and is now undergoing testing and running-in trials at the Welsh Highland Railway in time for their Super-power weekend on the 14th and 15th of September 2024, where it will be in steam for the event then.

The ex LMS Jubilee Class 4-6-0 No. 45596 "Bahamas", is visiting the Nene Valley Railway from late November 2024 to work their North Pole Adventure trains over the Christmas season this December and into the New Year as well as working their Jolly Fisherman on the 4th of January 2025. They will also be Driver Experience trains with the locomotive on the 3rd and 4th January 2025 as well.

The locomotive was moved from Piacenza to Castel di Sangro in March 2023, where it is on display near the railroad station.
