Eskom (Jersey Railways & Tramways) 2-4-0T No. 5 'La Moye'Posted by: Steve Frost, European Editor on May 14, 2026 @ 16:05:21
What a great survivor from the short lived railways of the Channel Island of Jersey! Built in 1907 it worked the 42 inch gauge Jersey Railway until its withdrawal in 1924 after which it could have gone for scrap, but its gauge saved it as this is the South African gauge too.

Sale to the Victoria Falls Power Company, later called Eskom, made its survival possible. Eskom operated it as a part of their heritage collection. It is interesting to see the name still clearly visible on the tank side. Let us hope that she receives the restoration that her unique history should ensure.
