The boiler needs more work than anticipated and the Tlyllyn Railway has appealed for the money needed to complete the overhaul.

Mechanically much has been done with the tyres turned, a new driving axle fitted and new crank pins made. The cylinders have been re-bored, the valve faces machined and the cylinders fitted to the frames. The cylinders are reaching the end of their life, though and new ones will be needed for the next overhaul.
