No. 2890 "Douglas" has now arrived at the Great Central Railway (Nottingham) at Ruddington, Nottinghamshire for its long stay there. The loco will enter traffic there this Easter.

No. 60 has arrived at the Aln Valley Railway at Alnwick, Northumberland for running in and final painting before making its debut at its new home this April.

One of the well known US Army S160 locomotives that were shipped to Europe during the Second World War. Many were adopted by the national railways of war torn European nations and worked for many years. With local modifications, it is still recognisable.

Having been on lease to Atlantic Rail for several years South African Railways Class 24 2-8-4 No. 3655 has undergone a overhaul at Voorbaai which has seen been converted to oil fired. No. 3655 has become a new addiction to Ceres Rail and has relocated to there base at Witzenberg in the Westerncape.

South African Railways 19D 4-8-2 No. 3322 current location is Witzenberg in the Westerncape. As its part of the Ceres Rail Company fleet there since 2017. No. 3322 has been named "Dominique" after the daughter of the Head of Ceres Rail.

No. 4 "Gelert" was in steam and being tested on the 24th of March at the Statfold Barn Railway following completion of its overhaul and rebuild there. The locomotive will soon be returning home to the Welsh Highland Heritage Railway to enter traffic for the 2018 season.

The loco bearing the number 166 in the CGR lists was in fact a broad gauge 2-6-4T of class D3, so the identity carried by this loco is not correct. As so many of the locos present at the site carried no form of identity, one wonders which one this is! I will settle for 160 until someone knows better.

This CPC (actually Colombo Ports Commission) rather than the later established Ports Authority was, in 2015, plinthed with a restored wagon on the north side of the line at Rambukkana Station, 6 km east of Polgahawela on the Badulla/Kandy line.

Its good news for 70013 "Oliver Cromwell" as having passed a steam test for its extension of its boiler ticket which will last till the 31st of December 2018. This will enable 70013 to take part in the 50th anniversary celebrations of the end of steam this August being held at the Great Central Railway and might do some visits to other preserved railways?

This locomotive (in 2015) bore a plate (not original) indicating that the depicted image is No. 166, NOT 160. If No. 166 is correct, the accompanying build details are also incorrect.

The 19 will be open for visitors starting on May 10th, open for tours on Saturday from 10am-4pm throughout the summer and into early fall. The Locomotive has been given a few touch ups and work is being undertaken to make her look more eye catching and historically correct for visitors.

Sadly this locomotive No. 3484 one of the big Class 25NC 4-8-4s was cut up for scrap after 15 years of stirling service for Rovos Rail she was scrapped in Pretoria in the early 2000s.

This locomotive No. 439 named "Tiffany" is the oldest working mainline steam locomotive in South Africa and is part of Rovos Rail steam fleet at Pretoria. No. 439 was built by Dubs & Co. of Glasgow in Scotland in 1894 for the Cape Government Railway. No. 439 is currently the only Class 6 4-6-0 still able to steam in South Africa and is steamed on occasions at Rovos Rail s Depot Museum at Pretoria.

The locomotive pictured is JNR C11-1, preserved in Ohme Railway Park. The locomotive that was displayed at Nagashima is Yubari Railway No. C1101, an identical copy of JNR Class C11. Status should also say "scrapped", as the locomotive, along with other locomotives displayed at Nagashima, were scrapped circa 1984.

The most famous steam locomotive in South Africa No. 3450 ‘The Red Devil’ has been moved from Bellville South Africa to Worcester for restoration to full working order by Ceres Rail Company.

Pioneer tunnel claims both lokies are Ex William J. Gilbert locomotives where in fact the national board numbers and builders numbers for both engines indicate they never worked or operated for the William j Gilbert company at all and are in fact Lehigh Valley Coal Company engines 119 and 123. Suspicious as to how the whole Gilbert Fallacy came about. Upsetting that such a nice place Mis informs the public.

No. 6029 has been added to the line up of steam locomotives taking part in this years Hunter Valley Steamfest on the weekend of the 14th and 15th of April 2018.
