In a surprise move former Central Electricity Generating Board Robert Stephenson & Hawthorn built 0-6-0T No. 7684 "Nechells No 4" has moved to the Great Central Railway to be now based there. Its to be overhauled there as well.

Now in the final stages of its overhaul it has been confirmed by its owners that S160 2-8-0 No. 2253 will be sent to the North Yorkshire Moors Railway for running in trials before it moves to the Dartmouth Steam Railway for the 2019 season.

In 2019 Peckett built 0-4-0ST No. 2087 now named "Achillies" is to reive steam at the East Kent Railway at Shepherdswell as it is going on hire to them for the 2019 season there. No. 2087 will operate on Special events and Bank Holidays there.

The GWR Manor Class 4-6-0 "Lydham Manor" is to visit the Churnet Valley Railway in February 2019. During its visit it will take part in there Winter Steam Gala round then and be used for Footplate Experience days. Where members of the public can have the opportunity to drive and fire the locomotive.

Former Beckton Gas Works Neilson & Co. built 0-4-0WT No. 1 is currently located at Preston Steam Services at Canterbury in Kent. Where it has been for a number of years now in storage there and is up for sale.

No. 60009 "Union of South Africa" will be visiting the North Yorkshire Moors Railway next year for the opening season round late March and early April. This will be the last visit to a preserved railway by Number Nine then before its retirement from July 2019. No. 60009 along with LNER K4 "The Great Marquess" will then be moved to John Carmon s Railway and Farming visitor centre and museum on his farm near Balbuthie in Fife.

The London & North Western Railway Coal Tank No. 1054 is to be repainted in British Railways livery with its BR running number 58926. For its remainder of its boiler ticket which ends in 2021.

No. 3 "Lady Victoria" will be moving to the National Mining Museum, Scotland at Lady Victoria Colliery at Newtongrange in Midlothian for display on long term loan there. Where it will replace Andrew Barclay built 0-4-0ST No. 21 there.

The former Dorking Greystone Limeworks Fletcher Jennings built 0-4-0T No. 3 "Captain Baxter" has been withdrawn from service as it has reached the end of its current boiler ticket. "Captain Baxter" is to go on display in the Bluebell Railways new Steam Works Museum which is due to open soon this month. Where locomotive will remain till it can be overhauled again.

9600 has been withdrawn from service for its 10 year overhaul. It was last steamed at Tyseley Locomotive Works open weekend in September.

S.P. RR. #3025 4-4-2 Atlantic is currently featured in a TV commercial for the "Fracture-me" Photography Co., that prints color prints onto glass plates for a unique picture on the walls, and #3025 is seen with the Left rear driver and the ends of both the connecting rod and the Main drive rod, with an attractive young lady with a white shirt and blue jeans standing in front of them to show how tall the 81" driving wheels are.

The former TCDD (WD) 8F 2-8-0 No. 45170 is to be named "Sir William McAlpine" when fully restored. In memory of the late Sir William who had played a very big part in railway preservation.

The former Brookfield Foundry Bagnall built 0-6-0PT "Brookfield" has a interesting history. No. 2613 was originally designed as a meter gauge locomotive for export to Turkey. Part way in its construction it was commandeered as part of the war effort and built as a standard gauge locomotive. It was sent new to the Admiralty stores at Stoke on Trent where it was used as a shunting engine there till 1945. Afterwards it remained in use there on the same site, which became Brookfield Foundry until 1961. The locomotive was put up for auction in 1983 when the foundry closed in the same year. It was sold for preservation in the same year. After 3 years of restoration the locomotive moved to the Pontypool & Blaenavon Railway where it entered service in 1986. In 1993 the locomotive visited both the Gwili Railway and the Foxfield Railway before it moved to the Mangapps Railway Museum the same year. Where "Brookfield has been ever since and is currently under a major overhaul.

Ex Courtaulds Ltd Peckett built 0-4-0ST No. 55 "Gibraltar" or No. 2087 has since been repainted in to Brunswick green livery and has been renamed "Achillies" now.

Skookum had her first test fire back on September 20th. The boiler jacket installation was also underway at that time, so she is much closer to being finished. Once finished, she will participate in a photo charter in March then relocated to her new home in California.

No. 813 is visiting the Battlefield Line Railway where it is joining South Devon base Small Prairie 2-6-2T No. 5542 and 0-6-0PT No. 6412 a GWR theme Autumn Steam Gala weekend there on the 13th and 14th of October. Then No. 813 is then heading to visit the Elsecar Heritage Railway on the 31st for their Home from the Front event marking 100 years since the end of World War One.

The overhaul of former Caledonian Railway 0-4-4T No. 419 has officially been completed and the locomotive has been painted in the light Blue livery of the Caledonian Railway. The locomotive will to under go test runs before it makes its public debut at the Bo ness and Kinneil Railways Autumn Steam Gala on the 2nd to 4th of November 2018.

The ex Yates Duxbury Paper Mill Peckett built 0-4-0ST "Annie" is now located at the Buckinghamshire Railway Centre at Quainton Road. As it was sold to a new owner there early this year.

No. 70000 "Britannia" is set to return to the mainline this October following running in at the Severn Valley Railway. The locomotive will under take a light engine test run on the 18th October 2018 running from Kidderminster to Crewe. Followed by a loaded test run on the 19th of October. If all goes well No. 70000 is haul a series of Saphos Trains trips in early December where she will be hauling her first mainline passenger tours for a number of years.

It has been confirmed that work on building No. 5551 "The Unknown Warrior" at the Llangollen Railway is to stop. This is due to a number of problems and the very tight timescale in building the National Memorial Steam Locomotive there. Its a very sad end but from October 29th No. 5551 is to relocate to Crewe Heritage Centre in Cheshire to have its boiler trial fitted.

From next year No. 6430 will be going on hire to the Nene Valley Railway for the 2019 season from April to October.

Oct 2018, #5002 was removed from Boyerstown, PA and is in Baraboo, WI at a steam shop. Was told it was to be repaired and is now privately owned. I saw it on the highway near Chicago, the truck driver waiting for permit time.

Sadly due to its overhaul overrunning at Carnforth Depot the visit of No. 61306 "Mayflower" to the Bluebell Railway for there Giants of Steam Event has had to be cancelled. But it is hoped that the locomotive visit in the near future.
