The Padarn Railway 1848 built 0-4-0 "Fire Queen", which is the oldest narrow gauge steam locomotive in the world, has now left the Penrhyn Castle Industrial Railway Museum and has relocated to the Vale of Rheidol Railway at Aberystwyth, Ceredigion in Wales for display in their new museum shed at Aberystwyth. But this is only temporarily as "Fire Queen" will be on display there until late March 2024, after which the locomotive will be moved to its original home at Gifach Ddu at Parc Padarn for display in its original engine shed which is being restored there.

The photo for "Firequeen" is of a scale model of the locomotive. I've been assured by several folks who've seen the original that the model has excellent fidelity to the original. So... absent a photo of the prototype, we've chosen to display this photo by Mark Ralberg. The manufacturer of this locomotive is said to have been either A. Horlock & Co. or Horlocks & Co. We would welcome any information about this builder. Doug
