Viewed from the rear, the unique design of 'Fire Queen' defies classification. The rear set driving wheels are reminiscent of a Crampton, but the high set, steeply inclined cylinders are more like early Stephenson designs ('Invicta' perhaps?). The eccentrics are on the leading axle working backwards to drive the valves. A strange loco, considering it was built 18 years after 'Planet'!

A close up of the loco. The diagonal shaft seems to be the reverser, but looks like the steering wheel from a traction engine!

The beautifully presented loco shows the wooden insulation on the boiler and cylinder. Slide valves atop the cylinder and proudly engraved nameplate.

Eccentrics rods and die block. The assembly is bolted to the firebox and the reverser lifts the die block via the screw thread at left.

Slide bars, crosshead and connecting rod on the right hand side of the loco. Notice the feedwater pump driven off the crosshead. (Painted black, beside the firebox lagging)
