I have a book about the end of steam locomotives all around the countries of the world, and this class of locomotives are said to be the largest straight 2 cylinder locomotives Europe ever had. They were, however, very troublesome. They were built by the Italians due to that country owing Greece after the second World War. They never produced any main line locomotives in over 20 years, or any of that enormous size, and as a result, the 20 engines of this class were built with fireboxes too small for them. After only 2 years, they were sent back to be rebuilt with new boilers, but were still not right. The only reason they were not retired was due to Italy not being able to admit they screwed up. Hellenistic engine crews put up with them for over 20 years until steam was done in Greece.
