R707 is operational after sitting idle for many years. She was originally restored from 1981 to 1985. The 707 operations website gives excellent history of the loco.

Victorian Railways loco R707 was used on trials with pulverised brown coal in 1954. Victoria State had huge deposits of brown coal. It appears coal consumption was improved, but cheaper diesel power and the cost of converting locos and coal storage costs saw R707 return to black coal in 1957. In service August 1954 and withdrawn in November 1968.
