South Durham Steel & Iron Co. 1900 built 0-4-0ST "South Durham Malleable No. 5", has been donated to the Tanfield Railway by Beamish Open Air Museum and the locomotive is now relocating there where they plan to fully assess the locomotive and restore it. Having been on long term loan to them No. 3 "Twizell", will now be part of the running fleet at the Tanfield Railway for good in the years ahead. No. 229 has returned back to the Flour Mill works for final work to be completed which will see vaccum brakes fitted and may possible have airbraking as well?? But it will be painted in Great Eastern Blue livery during the winter and it is planned to visit Mangapps Railway Museum in 2026 as a thank you as the head of Mangapps John Jolly had help with its restoration by donating buffers for it. It has been scrapped sometime after the 1940s.
