The ex South African Railways NG15 Class 2-8-2 No. 146, has now relocated to its new home at the Vale of Rheidol Railway at Aberystwyth, Ceredigion in Wales for storage and to await restoration to be carried out.

The 1975 built working replica of "Locomotion No. 1", is now located and based at Hopetown, Darlington where it is located and based in the Whessoe Road Engine Shed there.

The fuel status should now say oil as ex United States Army Transportation Corps S160 2-8-0 No. 2253 "OMAHA", is being converted to being oil fired.

Good to hear that the old girl will be owned by the Tanfield. They have worked so hard over the years to look after this classic Robert Stephenson & Co. product of Newcastle upon Tyne works. She is North East England through and through.

Great news. The sight of this old locomotive left out in all weathers always was depressing. Hopefully the Tanfield lads will be able to resurrect the engine.

The ex Carlisle Plaster & Cement Co. Andrew Barclay built 0-4-0ST Works No. 1969 "J N Derbyshire", has relocated to the East Lancashire Railway at Bury in Lancashire, where it is now based and only returns to the Ribble Steam Railway during the summer months.

The ex Manchester Ship Canal Hudswell Clark built 0-6-0T (Works No. 680) No. 32 "Gothenburg", (aka Thomas the Tank Engine) has been repainted into its Manchester Ship Canal Grey livery in time for the East Lancashire Railway’s Autumn Steam Gala over the 17th to 19th of October 2025. No. 32 "Gothenburg" will be repainted back as Thomas the Tank Engine during the winter.

The former South Durham Steel & Iron Co. South Durham Steel & Iron Co. 1900 built 0-4-0ST "South Durham Malleable No. 5", has been donated to the Tanfield Railway by Beamish Open Air Museum and the locomotive is now relocating there where they plan to fully assess the locomotive and restore it.

The ex Beamish Colliery, Robert Stephenson & Co. built 0-6-0T (Works No. 2730) No. 3 "Twizell", has a bright future ahead of it as the locomotive has been donated to the Tanfield Railway by its now former owners Beamish Open Air Museum. Having been on long term loan to them No. 3 "Twizell", will now be part of the running fleet at the Tanfield Railway for good in the years ahead.

Our thanks to Roger for his effort. The current gauge is standard gauge, but back in 1906 it was 5 feet.

4 days ago this locomotive was loaded onto a flatbed trailer and is being taken to the Cotton Belt railroad yard in Rusk for restoration.

this locomotive is not scrapped. in 2009 Glen houlton found this locomotive and took some pictures. you can see them on a website called surviving steam locomotive search

The PKP number is correctly given as Tr203-288 but other details are wrong. This is ALCO 70571 1943 ex USATC 2089 USATC 2253 Baldwin 64696 1943 became PKP Tr203-289 The two locos seem to have exchanged worksplates (and possibly boilers) in Poland

Having hauled its final trains at the Great Central Railway, the ex LMS Jubilee Class 4-6-0 No. 45596 "Bahamas", has now been withdrawn from service and is now relocating to Tyseley Locomotive Works at Tyseley in Birmingham for its next mainline overhaul which will take 18 months to complete and will the fitment of air-brakes to the locomotive for more mainline running.

The successful return to steam of former Great Eastern Railway, 1876 built Class 209 or LNER Y5 0-4-0ST No. 229, has been good as the locomotive was one of the big crowd pleasers during its visit to Hopetown, Darlington for their Titans of Steam Gala. No. 229 has returned back to the Flour Mill works for final work to be completed which will see vaccum brakes fitted and may possible have airbraking as well?? But it will be painted in Great Eastern Blue livery during the winter and it is planned to visit Mangapps Railway Museum in 2026 as a thank you as the head of Mangapps John Jolly had help with its restoration by donating buffers for it.

The overhaul on the ex NCB Kinneil Colliery Andrew Barclay built 0-4-0ST (Works No. 2157) No. 47 "Fambridge", has started to pick up at the Vale of Berkeley Railway as the locomotive has been moved undercover in a tent cover for work to really progress during the winter months ahead.

HK Porter 2542/March 1902. Was ordered by Puako Plantation who used it at the Dillingham Quarry in Oahu. It has been scrapped sometime after the 1940s.
